Job summary

High Liner Foods in Peabody, MA is seeking a forklift operator to handle the efficient put-away, picking, and loading of frozen products. You will support cycle counts, ensure stock accuracy in the freezer, and communicate shortages to production and customer service to maintain supply continuity.

Job description

Plant Environment:

The plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil, electricity. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold (-10 degrees F), heat (80 degrees F), rain, snow, dust, smoke and odors.

Allergens found inside the plant include: fish, shellfish, nuts, eggs, wheat, soy, milk and coconut.

Specific Accountabilities:
  • Accurately put-away, order picking, stacking, loading and shipment of frozen products.
  • Cycle counting, putting up loose cases and area clean-up as needed.
  • Prints picks and Bills of Lading (BOL’s) when necessary. Makes corrections if needed.
  • Communicates via phone and email with production, plant, and customer service about product shortages.
  • Pulls samples for customer service, sales or QA dept.
  • Ensures the stock accuracy of product in the freezer as well as outbound shipments or required raw materials for the production line.
  • Ensures all safety rules, OSHA standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) are followed. Checks the temperature of all trailers being loaded.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Forklift experience including Stand Up, Sit Down and Pallet Jack forklifts.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole number, fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Well-developed and demonstrated organization, attention to detail, problem solving, interpersonal, negotiation, and communications skills
  • Ability to comprehend and follow detailed verbal and written instructions and to engage in complex negotiations in English
  • Reliability in attendance and performance
  • Flexibility and the ability to perform and/or monitor multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Willingness to work overtime as required, including some weekends
  • Ability to comprehend and follow detailed verbal and written instructions and communicate fluently in English.
