Job description

Purpose of the Position: To manifest and load outbound shipments for customers and unload and manifest inbound loads from the SAN Wet Plant. To remove or enter any needed information according to company requirements.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

  1. Unloading: Unload incoming trailers into appropriate locations. Perform 100% inspection of pallets and products during unloading. Complete manual inspection paperwork and submit RFGEN printouts confirming trailer empties and correct product placement. Make adjustments in RFGEN if needed and document them. Consolidate lot numbers for partial pallets using RFGEN.
  2. Loading: Use RFGEN to select the oldest product (FEFO). Match and identify loads with pick slips. Count pallets for accuracy. Stage and inspect loads thoroughly. Print BOL and packing slips, apply customer labels, and load trailers following specific patterns. Secure loads with airbags, straps, and load bars. Label pallets for scanning and enter all relevant information into the system for billing. Maintain organization with license plates and verify trailer contents upon arrival, ensuring pallet match and correct counts. Scan pallets with proper case counts, weights, and dates.
  3. Additional Duties: Assist with and ensure proper functioning of wrapping machines. Conduct 100% pallet inspections for pests and damages. Participate actively in team meetings, contribute to team cohesion, and support company policies and practices. Understand and support Simmons' operating systems and quality/security standards. Perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives.
  4. Physical Activities and PPE: Work in temperature extremes, dry, noisy environments. Lift/move up to 55 pounds repeatedly. Climb stairs/ladders as needed. Use PPE such as head coverings, ear plugs, steel toe shoes, and seat belts.
  5. Travel: Not applicable.
  6. Technical and Industry Experience: Preferred experience in shipping/receiving and working with large moving equipment. Industry experience in warehouse shipping/receiving preferred.
  7. Minimum Education: Ability to read, write, speak English, and perform basic math. Must pass forklift tests annually.
  8. Preferred Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
