Job summary

OrePac Building Products is hiring a Night Loader (Warehouse Associate) in Wilsonville, OR. The role involves organizing the loading dock, loading trucks by route sequence, and performing heavy lifting safely on a full-time schedule from 4:00pm to 12:30am with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Determine loading configurations to maximize cube utilization.
  • Load product onto trailers and secure to prevent shifting.
  • May replenish stock as time permits.
  • Forklift duties include training, staging, fueling and inspections.

Job Title: Night Loader - Warehouse Associate

Pay & FSLA Status:Competitive Compensation, D.O.E.; Hourly non-exempt

Regular Schedule & Shift: Monday-Friday; 4:00pm-12:30am (overtime as needed)

Regular Weekly Hours:Full-time/40 hours per week (overtime as needed)

Paid Time Off (PTO): 80 hours per year for the first 3 years

Paid Sick Time: 40 hours per year

POSITION SUMMARY:

Our Night Loaders are responsible for organizing the loading dock and loading OrePac trucks with customer orders per route sequence in a safe and efficient manner. This is a labor-intensive position that requires heavy lifting. Individuals are regularly on their feet throughout their shift and may work at heights as required. Safety is a priority.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate powered industrial equipment such as forklifts or combilifts to manipulate and move product.
  • Take inventory of all materials to be loaded and ensure that the product is accurately and safely staged and secured and appropriately shrink-wrapped or wrapped for protection. Any noticeable damage should be pulled aside and communicated per management’s direction to be resolved the next business day.
  • Determine appropriate loading configuration, taking into account stop order, product mix, and routing to ensure maximum cube utilization.
  • Load product onto trailer and safely and properly secure it to prevent shifting during transport and to prohibit damage in transit.
  • May complete replenishment of product as needed and as time permits.
  • Forklift duties may be assigned to this position. Any assigned forklift duties will first require taking and passing a forklift training course and obtaining a certificate. Forklift duties will include staging and/or stacking material neatly and safely, operating the forklift in a safe manner, filling the forklift with propane fuel, and regularly checking the forklift fluid levels.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.
  • Ability to adhere to all facets of safety policies and procedures, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated by OrePac’s safety program. Ability to perform all essential responsibilities of job in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment within a team or individually with minimal supervision while achieving quality and timely completion of assigned tasks to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • 1 or more years of experience in a warehouse environment (preferred).
  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be accepted in place of the education and/or experience requirements listed for this role.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly required to see, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision.
  • Regularly use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Regularly reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Regularly lift/move/manipulate up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Regularly steer, reach, and handle dunnage if forklift operation duties are assigned to the position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate/loud.
  • The employee frequently works in high, precarious places.
  • The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.

  • Report all incidents and accidents to one’s immediate supervisor within 24 hours.
  • Maintain the work area in a safe and healthful condition.
  • Report, and whenever possible correct, unsafe working conditions to branch leadership.
  • Operate vehicles while in the course of employment in a safe and lawful manner.
  • Provide assistance to reduce or eliminate workplace hazards.
  • Comply with company drug testing policies and procedures.
  • Comply with company Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies. OrePac will provide required PPE to employees.
