Job summary

SanMar is hiring for a Warehouse Associate II in Ashland, VA. The role involves unloading/loading trailers, moving product with lift equipment, and organizing storage areas to support accurate inventory and timely shipments.

You will verify inventory and update records while maintaining a safe, fast-paced warehouse environment. The position requires the ability to lift up to 60 pounds and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1–3 years experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Strong customer service skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to read, write and identify colors, sizes, quantities, labels and SKUs.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization; multitasking and prioritizing daily work.

Responsibilities

  • Unload/load trailers and move product with powered lift equipment.
  • Store product in designated areas; update location database.
  • Prepare product for shipment and direct movement to staging area.
  • Verify inventory reports; adjust entries as needed.
  • Document warehouse actions and maintain logs and databases.
  • Maintain counts and resolve shipment/location discrepancies.

  • 2nd Shift (Monday–Friday): 2:30 PM–11:00 PM
Starting Pay
  • 2nd Shift – $18.50/hour (+ $1.00 shift differential)
Short Version

The Warehouse Associate II supports warehouse inventory by monitoring production; loading and moving product; designating storage areas; adjusting storage areas according to production and shipping requirements; and verifying product inventory reports.

What Will You Be Doing?
  • Unload/load incoming and outgoing trailers, operating powered lift equipment to move product and materials as needed.
  • Store product by designating storage areas; adjusting storage areas according to production and shipping requirements; updating location database.
  • Prepare product for shipment by verifying location; directing movement to staging area; resolving problems.
  • Verify product inventory reports by comparing logs and reports; adjusting entries.
  • Document warehouse actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records; maintaining databases.
  • Monitor inventory by completing counts as required.
  • Research and resolve any discrepancies with shipments, locations, or product. Locates missing product to complete and ship customer orders in a timely fashion.
  • Support other functions of the Distribution Center as needed, including processing returns, invoicing and tagging shipments, inputting stats and generating reports, and building carts.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy warehouse environment by adhering to standards, policies, and legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns.
What Are We Looking For?

  • 1‑3 years experience in a warehouse environment

  • Excellent organization skills; capable of multitasking and prioritizing daily responsibilities
  • Ability to learn Internal Operating System(s) and operate Radio Frequency (RF) unit
  • Self‑starter with strong initiative and ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient typing and data entry skills
  • Ability to follow directions and adjust priorities or job duties as business needs require
  • Ability to work in a high‑demand, high‑volume environment and meet deadlines
  • Comprehend verbal and written instructions
  • Able to work both independently and within a team
  • Mandatory overtime as required, which may include weekends

What Should You Expect?

The role requires standing, walking, talking, hearing, frequently lifting or moving up to 60 pounds, operating powered equipment, reaching with hands and arms, repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions, climbing stairs, kneeling/squatting, bending, carrying, and working in a fast‑paced environment. Specific vision abilities include color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Protective equipment such as harnesses and headsets may be required. Basic English literacy is required for operation of machines and daily paperwork. The work environment is moderately noisy and may involve dust, changing weather, and exposure to extreme heat or cold.
