Job summary

World Electric, part of the Sonepar group, is hiring a Warehouse Associate for our Florida facility. You will handle receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping of materials, while maintaining accurate ERP inventory records. The role requires forklift/cherry picker experience, basic MS Office skills, and safety awareness.

The position is full-time with a 2:30PM–11:30PM shift and competitive benefits. Training and growth opportunities are provided within the Sonepar family.

Qualifications

• Forklift/cherry picker experience is required.
• Basic MS Word/Excel and general computer skills are expected.
• Read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.

Responsibilities

• Receive, move and store materials; read orders and pack items.
• Pick, pack and ship orders; verify accuracy and load trucks.
• Maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP system and conduct cycle counts.

What You'll Do

• Receiving
• Read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, packing slips or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed.
• Marks materials with identifying information.
• Opens bales, crates and other containers.
• Verifies and records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
• Drives equipment to transport items within the warehouse.
• Uses computer to enter records.
• Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
• Put away
• Sorts and places material or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, style, or product code.
• Sorts and stores stocked goods in warehouse.
• Marks materials with identifying information.
• Weighs or counts items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards.
• Picking
• Fills requisitions, work orders or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to customers and sales.
• Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
• Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
• Packing
• Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
• Verifies the product that has been picked and documents discrepancies on an error log and has correct product re-picked.
• Confirm tickets.
• Uses computer to enter records.
• Loading
• Consolidates freight for shipping.
• Loads trucks for delivery to customers.
• Routing
• Facilitates and distributes shipping tickets.
• Verifies shipping method.
• Manages delayed release tickets.
• Communicates oversize loads to freight carriers.
• Inspects and maintains printing equipment.
• Ensures shipping routes are maintained.
• Inventory Control
• Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP system.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile variances promptly.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, reporting findings to management.
• Pipe Yard
• Receive pipe and conduit.
• Prepare pipe and conduit bundles for shipping orders.

What You'll Bring

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or
• Three months or more related experience and/or training; or
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requirements:

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units to measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, the Internet.
• Previous forklift/cherry picker experience.
• Basic safety knowledge (i.e., proper lifting techniques, etc.).

• Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and slide packages that typically weigh up to 50 lbs.
• Frequently requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching with arms, and constant use of hands.

• Requires flexibility and mobility in body movements.
• Occasionally, it may be required to lift items greater than 50 lbs. with assistance.
