Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and verify shipments against POs and packing slips.
• Label, organize, and store parts with defined locations; maintain counts.
• Enter receipts and adjustments in the inventory system and reconcile discrepancies.
• Restock service vehicles with truck stock lists to prepare for jobs.
• Pull, stage, and package special-order parts for scheduled jobs.
• Issue and track tools and equipment and manage returns.
• Schedule preventive maintenance and track service intervals for each vehicle.
• Coordinate repairs with vendors and arrange vehicle drop-off/pickup.
• Report vehicle status to the Service Manager.
• Keep warehouse clean and hazards-free; operate pallet jacks and hand trucks safely.
• Store chemicals and regulated materials per safety data sheets.
• Assist with basic equipment cleaning and readiness checks.
• Maintain inventory logs and vendor communications using Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Track usage trends and identify slow-moving or overstocked items.
• Support month-end inventory reporting and audits.

About the Role:

Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Virginia Beach is looking for a reliable Warehouse Associate that keeps our service technicians stocked, organized, and on the road. You will receive, store, track, and issue the plumbing parts, fittings, equipment, and materials our trucks depend on every day, and keep inventory records accurate so the right part is on the right truck when the call comes in.

Key Responsibilities

Receiving and inventory control

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips; report shortages, damages, and backorders.
• Label, organize, and store plumbing parts, fittings, fixtures, pipe, and equipment so every item has a defined location.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts; perform regular cycle counts and assist with periodic full physical inventories.
• Enter receipts, transfers, and adjustments in the inventory system and reconcile discrepancies promptly.
• Monitor stock levels and maintain min. / max. levels of inventory

Truck stocking and technician support

• Restock service vehicles to established truck stock lists so technicians start each day fully equipped.
• Pull, stage, and package special-order parts and materials for scheduled jobs.
• Issue and track tools and equipment (drain machines, jetters, cameras, locators, specialty tools), and log check-out and return.
• Process returns from technicians, including unused materials, warranty parts, and defective items; manage vendor returns and core credits.
• Pick up parts and materials from local supply houses as needed, using a company vehicle.

Fleet maintenance coordination

• Schedule preventive maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, inspections) and track service intervals for each vehicle.
• Coordinate repairs with vendors and shops, and arrange drop-off, pickup, and loaner or spare vehicles to minimize technician downtime.
• Review vehicle inspection checklists from technicians and follow up on reported issues.
• Report vehicle condition and maintenance status to the Service Manager.

Warehouse operations and safety

• Keep the warehouse, shelving, and loading areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Operate material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks safely.
• Store and handle chemicals, gas fittings, and other regulated materials per safety data sheets and company policy.
• Assist with basic equipment cleaning and readiness checks before tools are reissued.

Records and reporting

• Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook to maintain inventory logs, prepare reports, and communicate with vendors and staff.
• Track usage trends and help identify slow-moving, overstocked, or frequently short items.
• Support month-end inventory reporting and audits.
