Job summary

World Electric, part of the Sonepar family, is hiring a Warehouse Associate to join our Florida team. This full-time on-site role covers receiving, put-away, picking, packing, loading, routing, and pipe yard duties with a focus on accuracy and safety.

Education includes a high school diploma or GED, plus 3+ months of related experience. Proficiency with MS Word and Excel and basic safety knowledge are preferred. Benefits include healthcare, PTO, 401(k), and more.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous forklift/cherry picker experience is required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions.

Responsibilities

• Receiving materials and verifying orders; entering records into a computer.
• Putting away and storing items on racks and shelves.
• Picking and assembling customer orders for packing and shipping.
• Packing and verifying picked products and documenting discrepancies.
• Loading freight for delivery and consolidating shipments.
• Routing and coordinating shipping tickets and methods; communicating with carriers.
• Handling pipe yard tasks and preparing pipe bundles for shipping orders.

What You'll Do

• Receiving
  • Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, packing slips, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Verifies and records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Drives equipment to transport items within the warehouse.
  • Uses computer to enter records.
  • Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
• Put away
  • Sorts and places material or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, style, or product code.
  • Sorts and stores stocked goods in warehouse.
  • Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Weighs or counts items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards.
• Picking
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to customers and sales.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
  • Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
• Packing
  • Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Verifies the product that has been picked and documents discrepancies on an error log and has correct product re-picked.
  • Confirm tickets.
  • Uses computer to enter records.
• Loading
  • Consolidates freight for shipping.
  • Loads trucks for delivery to customers.
• Routing
  • Facilitates and distributes shipping tickets
  • Verifies shipping method
  • Manages delayed release tickets
  • Communicates oversize loads to freight carriers
  • Inspects and maintains printing equipment
  • Ensures shipping routes are maintained
• Pipe Yard
  • Receive pipe and conduit
  • Prepare pipe and conduit bundles for shipping orders

What You'll Bring

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or
• Three months or more related experience and/or training; or
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requirements

Ability to:

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units to measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, the Internet
• Previous forklift/cherry picker experience
• Basic safety knowledge (i.e., proper lifting techniques, etc.)

• Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and slide packages that typically weigh up to 50 lbs.
• Frequently requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching with arms, and constant use of hands.
• Continuous mental and visual alertness to maintain safety and achieve accuracy.
• Requires flexibility and mobility in body movements.
• Occasionally, it may be required to lift items greater than 50 lbs. with assistance.
