Contract Term: September through January

Compensation

$25/hr, with room to grow. Pay raises are available based on performance, plus a performance bonus in January.

About Winterborn Alpaca

Winterborn Alpaca is a growing seasonal retailer specializing in premium alpaca apparel and gifts. Every holiday season, we operate approximately 15 Christmas markets across the United States, serving thousands of customers with premium alpaca scarves, socks, mittens, beanies, stuffed animals, and other accessories.

Our warehouse in Lincolnwood, Illinois is the logistics hub for all of our U.S. operations. We're looking for a careful, detail-oriented person who takes pride in getting things exactly right, to manage our warehouse, inventory, shipping, and logistics through our busiest season.

About the Position

This is not your typical warehouse position.

As our Seasonal Operations & Logistics Manager, you'll own the warehouse operation that supports 15 retail locations across the country. Accuracy is everything in this role. The right product, in the right quantity, has to reach the right store at the right time. A miscounted box or a wrong shipment can leave a market short during its busiest weekend, so we need someone who double-checks their work and catches small mistakes before they become big ones.

The workload is highly seasonal:

• October & November: Our busiest months, as inventory arrives and is shipped to all retail locations across the U.S.
• Mid-November through Christmas: Ongoing replenishment shipments to stores based on sales.
• January: Return processing, inventory reconciliation, and warehouse wrap-up.

Because of this cycle, we need someone flexible who understands that some weeks require significantly more hours than others.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all warehouse operations throughout the season
• Receive, inspect, and carefully verify incoming inventory against orders
• Maintain precise inventory counts across hundreds of SKUs
• Pick, pack, and double-check shipments to approximately 15 retail locations across the U.S.
• Coordinate LTL freight shipments using online freight platforms
• Prepare and ship replenishment orders using FedEx, UPS, and other parcel carriers
• Process and fulfill website orders accurately
• Track store inventory levels and prepare replenishment shipments based on sales
• Keep the warehouse organized, labeled, and easy to navigate
• Process and reconcile returned inventory after the holiday season
• Communicate regularly with management about inventory levels, shipping priorities, and any discrepancies
• Spot errors and find ways to improve accuracy and efficiency

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who:

• Is extremely detail-oriented and notices small mistakes others miss
• Takes pride in accurate, organized, well-documented work
• Is reliable, accountable, and self-motivated
• Works well independently with minimal supervision
• Can stay accurate under pressure during busy periods
• Can lift boxes up to approximately 50 lbs
• Is comfortable with computers, spreadsheets, and online shipping platforms
• Has experience with FedEx and UPS shipping systems
• Is familiar with arranging and managing LTL freight shipments
• Communicates clearly and flags problems early

Previous experience in warehouse operations, logistics, shipping, fulfillment, inventory management, or distribution is preferred.
