Job description

About Midwest Door and Hardware

We started in 1992 with four people. Today we are a team of more than 30 across Lincoln and North Platte, supplying hollow metal doors, frames, sidelights, wood doors, and hardware, standard and specialty, to contractors across Nebraska. Schools, hospitals, offices, arenas, churches, community centers. Interior, exterior, fire-rated, electrified.

Every door, frame, and piece of hardware we sell passes through the warehouse. You receive it, keep it organized, get it ready, and, in many cases, hand it to the customer or drive it to the job site. When the warehouse runs well, the whole company runs well.'

Midwest Door and Hardware is a Lincoln company that supplies and fabricates commercial doors, frames, and hardware for contractors and builders across the region. We are hiring a full-time Warehouse Associate to join a small operations team where you will know everyone by name and your work will be noticed.

What Your Day Looks Like

No two days are identical, but most include a mix of receiving, staging, delivering, and keeping the place in order. You will work with your hands, drive company vehicles, and spend a little time at a computer keeping orders straight.

  • Check inbound purchase orders, verify what arrived against what we ordered, and put it away so the next person can find it.
  • Pull and prepare sales orders for customer pick-up or delivery, including crating, palletizing, and packing products for outbound shipping.
  • Load the delivery vehicles, prepare the paperwork, and deliver products to customers and job sites, safely and on time.
  • Treat every customer interaction, at the counter or on a job site, as a reason they will call us again.
  • Keep the purchase order and sales order organization and labeling system accurate so nothing gets lost between receiving and delivery.
  • Help maintain the warehouse, the building, and the company vehicles. If something is broken, dirty, or in the way, you help fix it.
  • Keep Safety Data Sheets current as assigned, and maintain a turn-over file of your essential duties so the team is covered if you are out unexpectedly.
  • Look for what needs doing beyond your list. The people who move up here notice problems and solve them.
What We Are Looking For

This role fits someone who likes physical work, takes pride in a well‑organized space, and does not need to be told twice.

  • You are organized. You follow procedures, keep track of details, and can juggle several orders at once without dropping one.
  • You are a self‑starter. You see what needs to happen and get moving, without waiting for someone to assign it.
  • You communicate well. You can talk with a contractor on a job site, write a clear note for the office, and tell a teammate what still needs to be done.
  • You are safe behind the wheel and on a forklift, or willing to learn. We will train and certify you on the forklift.
  • You are steady under pressure. Deliveries run late, trucks show up early, and customers get impatient. You keep your composure and keep working the problem.
What You Need to Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 to 2 years in a logistics‑related position (warehouse, shipping and receiving, delivery, or similar)
  • Valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to drive a variety of company vehicles
  • Comfort with a computer: typing, filing, and basic Microsoft 365. We use Comsense ERP and Monday.com, and we will train you on both.
  • Forklift certification is a plus, but we will train and certify you if you do not have it
  • Attention to detail and the ability to organize, follow instructions, and multi‑task
Physical Part of the Role

This is active work in a warehouse and fabrication environment. We want you to know what it involves before you apply.

  • Standing for most of an 8‑hour day, walking much of it, with a little sitting and computer work mixed in
  • Frequent lifting of 25 to 100 pounds, along with bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching overhead
  • Occasional climbing and twisting, and repetitive use of your hands for grasping, loading and unloading trucks, and driving
  • Speech, vision, hearing, smell, and touch corrected to the near‑normal range, since you will be operating vehicles and equipment
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary
  • Healthcare
  • 10 paid holidays plus ample PTO
  • Retirement contributions
  • Parental leave
  • Advancement opportunity in a company that promotes from within
  • A 30‑person company where the president knows your name and your projects, and where decisions do not take four layers of approval
How We Work

Four principles, and they are the standard we hold ourselves to:

  • We deliver what we promise, when we promise it.
  • We collaborate with builders, not just supply them.
  • More than 40 years of hands‑on knowledge behind every opening.
  • Careful, consistent work built to stand up over time.
Why The Work Matters

Life happens through openings. Deals get signed, students get taught, patients get treated, all of it on the other side of a door that somebody had to specify, order, fabricate, deliver, and hang correctly. It is not glamorous work. It is work that must be right.

Midwest Door and Hardware is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to any characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.
