Job Summary
The Warehouse Associate supports the operation functions of the warehouse, including receiving, checking, stocking, and shipping materials. The role ensures accurate inventory tracking, maintains safety standards, and coordinates deliveries and customer orders.
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming freight and check the material for damages or shortages.
- Distribute material to the proper stock locations.
- Fill special orders and/or backorders as material is received.
- Follow up with appropriate departments, carriers, and/or vendors on receiving discrepancies, damages, and shortages.
- Check and pack material to be delivered.
- Possess a full understanding of truck routes and coordinate deliveries with our own trucks, assigned freight companies, or other carriers.
- Maintain shipping equipment and keep the work area clean and safe.
- Maintain assigned inventory stock locations, ensuring correct locator and neat, orderly shelves.
- Fill orders for delivery to customers.
- Ensure all batched material is labeled accurately and inventoried as needed.
- Maintain delivery vehicle in clean, good working condition and monitor maintenance and mileage data.
- Maintain daily driver logs and vehicle inspection sheets.
- Operate and maintain all equipment safely and adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic and safety regulations.
- Support the operations functions of the warehouse.
- Inform appropriate departments of stock outs, inventory discrepancies and other inventory problems or concerns.
Non-essential Functions
- Assist the City Desk and Will Call areas in customer service functions including order entry, processing returns, and technical assistance.
- Provide delivery of material to customer sites.
- Assist with loading and unloading of trucks.
- Notify supervisor of any building or equipment maintenance, repair needs, or security concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.
Qualifications
- 2 years of work experience preferred.
- Prior warehouse distribution experience including forklift operation and knowledge of electrical products/systems preferred.
- If the employee will be driving, the following criteria must be met:
- Candidate must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a valid driver’s license to operate company vehicle.
- A current medical certification may be required.
- PC working knowledge for Windows, internet, email, and SAP software is a plus.
