Job summary

Merchants Market is seeking a Warehouse Assistant to receive incoming stock and distribute food service products within the warehouse. The role is on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Responsibilities include picking orders, verifying accuracy, moving items between receiving, storage and shipping areas, and maintaining inventory knowledge while ensuring a safe working environment for staff and customers.

Qualifications

• Must have at least one year of warehouse experience.
• Experience in food distribution environment preferred.
• Knowledge of warehouse processes.

• Read and interpret orders to determine items to move, gather, and ship.
• Pick customer orders for shipping.
• Verify order accuracy for delivery.
• Move materials from receiving to shipping or storage areas.
• Sort and place materials on racks according to size, type, code.
• Develop inventory knowledge.

Job Summary:

The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for accurately and timely receiving incoming stores and distributing food service products within the warehouse. This position is for the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Essential Functions:

• Abilities to work in the Freezer at zero degrees.
• Reads customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed, and/or shipped.
• Picks customer orders for shipping.
• Verifies and ensures accuracy of orders for delivery.
• Moves materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
• Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence, such as size, type, style, and color or product code.
• Develops inventory product knowledge.
• Ensures the warehouse is accessible and safe for staff and customer traffic.

Required Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent years of experience
• At least one year of previous experience in warehouse environments.
• Working knowledge of warehouse processes.
• Prior warehouse experience, preferably in a food distribution environment.
• Reach truck experience.
• Strong attendance record

Physical Requirements:

• Able to work in an office environment and lift up to 75 pounds.
