Challenge Manufacturing in Pontiac, MI is seeking a W Shift Press Mechanic Level 3 with a strong background in machine repair and preventive maintenance. You will inspect, install, and repair production machinery, read mechanical and electrical prints, and coach junior mechanics while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires a journeyman card, two years of technical schooling, and a minimum of ten years of machine repair experience, with fifteen years preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of technical or trade school completed.
• Journeyman card required.
• Minimum ten years of machine repair experience; fifteen years preferred.
• Robotics training in electrical/mechanical areas preferred.
• Press-specific electrical/mechanical training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, install, repair production machinery and tools per procedures.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using a meter.
• Read mechanical and electrical prints for troubleshooting.
• Provide coaching and direction to level I technicians.
• Develop maintenance and repair procedures; participate in continuous improvement.
• Complete and manage work orders in Plex systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and maintain schedules.

In addition, build and re-build equipment for various manufacturing needs.**What You’ll Do:*** Follow specified maintenance and repair procedures to install, maintain, and repair production machinery and tools.* Utilize Plex to document appropriate downtime codes.* Ability to complete all tasks required of a Press Maintenance Mechanic I.* Ability to mechanically and electrically troubleshoot issues using a meter.* Advanced knowledge of press operation and functionality.* Advanced knowledge of lubrication systems (operation & functionality).* Knowledge of bearing/motor life (lubrication, how to tell when bearing needs lube, if there is too much lubrication, not enough, etc.).* Ability to repair/replace/troubleshoot press mechanical components (with guidance from press maintenance mechanic level III).* Ability to read mechanical and electrical prints for troubleshooting.* Advanced troubleshooting skillset when working on mechanical issues.* Basic troubleshooting skillset when working on electrical issues.* Troubleshoot, isolate and repair manufacturing machinery & equipment.* Use the following equipment safely: Hand Tools, Hand and Surface Grinders, Wheel Puller, Torches, Pipe Threader, Hydraulic Jack, Welders, Scissor Lift, Boom lift, Lathe, Forklift, Milling Machine, Drill Presses, and Basic Rigging knowledge.* Provide coaching and direction to Press Maintenance Mechanics level I.* Help develop specific maintenance and repair procedures to install, maintain, and repair production equipment and tools.* Proactively participate in continuous improvement efforts and drive process, tooling, and equipment enhancements that will improve production efficiency and product quality.* Complete and manage work orders via the Plex systems.* Perform preventative maintenance and provide input on updates to preventative maintenance schedules.**When and Where:**This will be a **W** ****S**hift / 5:00 AM - 3:30PM** **M-Th** position located at our **Plant in Pontiac, MI**.**What You Need to Have:*** High School Diploma or equivalent (required).* Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties, including following work instructions, safety procedures, and company communications.* Two years of technical or trade school (required).* Journeyman card (required).* Minimum of ten (10) years of Machine Repair experience (required).* Fifteen (15) years of Machine Repair experience (preferred).* Robotics training (electrical, mechanical) – (preferred).* Press specific training (electrical, mechanical) – (preferred).### Who We AreChallenge Manufacturing’s mission is to manufacture with operational excellence by empowering our employee-owners.
