Job summary

YMCA is seeking a Preschool Teacher for the VPK program to plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with VPK standards. The role involves creating a safe, nurturing classroom and tracking each child’s progress with clear records.

You will foster strong relationships with families and colleagues, support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth, and ensure compliance with safety and licensing regulations. Ongoing professional development is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Valid VPK teaching certification or credential.
• CPR certification.
• Experience working with preschool-aged children.
• Strong understanding of early childhood development principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Knowledge of safety and health regulations related to early childhood education.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with VPK standards.
• Create a safe, welcoming, and stimulating classroom environment.
• Assess and monitor each child’s progress, maintaining detailed records.
• Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
• Ensure compliance with all licensing, safety, and health regulations.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding children's progress and classroom activities.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings.
