Job summary

Empower Retirement seeks a strategic leader to head Treasury Operations, directing cash management, banking, payments, reporting, and controls. The role leads Kyriba governance, automation initiatives, and cross-functional programs to support growth and risk management.

You will partner with executive leadership to implement treasury technology enhancements, manage banking relationships, and drive enterprise-wide transformation while building and mentoring a multi-level Treasury team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent work experience.
• 15+ years broad Treasury experience, including 10+ years of progressive management.
• 5 years of Kyriba experience.
• Series 99 registration within one year of hire.
• FINRA Fingerprinting required.
• Translate Treasury strategy into priorities and measurable outcomes.
• Deep Treasury Operations expertise: cash management, banking, payments, controls, processes.
• Broad knowledge of financial services industry and interdependencies across Finance and business functions.
• Experience leading treasury technology enhancements, automation, and enterprise-scale transformation.
• Strong analytical, executive communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of the Treasury Operations strategy and priorities.
• Direct enterprise Treasury Operations across cash management, banking, payments, cash reporting, treasury controls, and Kyriba.
• Lead major Treasury Operations projects and cross-functional initiatives for growth, scalability, and risk management.
• Sponsor Kyriba governance, roadmap, and investments.
• Lead transformation initiatives: automation, data capabilities, and AI applications in Treasury.
• Direct corporate cash management and investments in partnership with Treasury Forecasting.
• Direct enterprise payment operations and control framework across wires, ACH, checks, and other methods.
• Approve/delegate manual cash accounting transactions when not automatable; drive process improvements.
• Establish KPIs, service levels, KRIs; close performance gaps with corrective actions.
• Provide strategic recommendations on cash management, banking, and payments to senior leadership.
• Manage banking relationships and vendor performance.
• Oversee bank account administration, APIs, and SFTP connectivity.
• Set Treasury Operations systems direction and SOPs including Kyriba governance.
• Develop Treasury policies, ICOFR controls, and business continuity plans.
• Support internal/external audits and remediation of findings.
• Coordinate Treasury matters with parent company Finance and Tax teams.
• Direct resource allocation and prioritization across Treasury activities.
• Lead Treasury Operations organization including staffing and leadership development.

The Vice President, Treasury Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for the Treasury Operations function, encompassing enterprise cash operations, banking, payments, cash reporting, treasury controls, and enabling technology, including the Kyriba Treasury Management System (TMS). This role supports the development of Treasury strategy, establishes direction and priorities for Treasury Operations, and leads execution across the firm. The Vice President partners with senior and executive leadership on matters of significance, directs major Treasury Operations initiatives and transformation, and leads and develops a multi-level team of Treasury professionals.

What You Will Do

• Lead execution of the Treasury Operations strategy and establish priorities, operating direction, and measurable outcomes aligned with broader Treasury and Finance strategy.
• Direct enterprise Treasury Operations across cash management, banking, payments, cash reporting, treasury controls, and enabling technology.
• Lead major Treasury Operations projects and cross-functional initiatives that support business growth, industry requirements, operational scalability, and risk management, partnering with Operations, IT, and other functions.
• Sponsor the strategic roadmap, governance, ongoing management, and enhancement of the Kyriba Treasury Management System (TMS), prioritizing capabilities and investments based on Treasury strategy, operational needs, and control requirements.
• Lead Treasury Operations transformation initiatives, including process simplification, automation, data capabilities, and appropriate application of artificial intelligence (AI), in collaboration with key partners across the firm.
• Direct corporate cash management activities supporting business operations, capital projects, and acquisitions in partnership with the Treasury Forecasting team; evaluate material issues and determine appropriate operational actions.
• Direct investment of surplus corporate cash, including investment sweeps, reporting, and analysis; elevate material issues and recommend appropriate actions.
• Direct enterprise payment operations and the related control framework across wire transfers, ACH, checks and positive pay, and other payment methods, with accountability for service performance, risk mitigation, and material exceptions.
• Approve or delegate approval of material manual cash accounting transactions that cannot be automated while driving process and technology improvements that reduce manual activity.
• Establish and monitor Treasury Operations Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), service levels, and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs); identify performance gaps and lead corrective actions and continuous improvement.
• Provide strategic recommendations regarding cash management, banking, payments, and other Treasury Operations matters, influencing decisions with senior and executive leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Own the strategic management of banking relationships, including service models, vendor performance, and delivery of custom and value-added banking services.
• Direct bank account administration and banking infrastructure, including authorized signers, system access, anti-fraud controls, payment methods, APIs, and SFTP connectivity; determine changes required to support business and control needs.
• Establish direction for Treasury Operations systems, controls, procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and operating standards, including governance for Kyriba.
• Develop and implement Treasury Operations policies and procedures, including Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICOFR) controls and business continuity planning, and ensure adherence to applicable Treasury policies.
• Direct Treasury Operations support for internal and external audits, oversee remediation of findings, and determine appropriate changes to controls, procedures, and operating practices.
• Oversee Treasury Operations matters related to the parent company and coordinate with parent-company Finance and Tax teams.
• Direct resource allocation and prioritization across Treasury Operations activities, projects, and strategic initiatives.
• Lead the Treasury Operations organization, including staffing, performance management, succession planning, workforce planning, coaching, and leadership development.

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 15 years of broad Treasury experience, including 10+ years of progressive management experience leading managers and multi-level Treasury teams
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Kyriba
• Series 99 registration required within one year of hire
• FINRA Fingerprinting required
• Demonstrated ability to translate Treasury strategy into priorities and measurable operating outcomes
• Deep Treasury Operations expertise, including cash management, banking, payments, treasury controls, and related operational processes
• Broad knowledge of the financial services industry, company operations, and Treasury interdependencies across Finance and business functions
• Demonstrated experience leading treasury technology enhancements, process redesign, automation, and enterprise-scale operational transformation
• Strong analytical, executive communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with demonstrated ability to drive alignment across internal partners and external financial institutions
• Strong project and portfolio management capabilities, including enterprise initiative prioritization, resource allocation, and management of competing demands
• Strong technology capabilities across financial applications, SAP S/4HANA or comparable Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms, banking technologies, APIs, SFTP, automation, and emerging AI applications in Treasury
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, mentor, and develop Treasury professionals and managers
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and deliverables with strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and hands-on execution levels when business needs require

What Will Set You Apart

• Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline
• Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and/or Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) designation
• Advanced expertise with Kyriba, including administration, governance, enhancement roadmaps, integrations, and optimization
• Experience leading enterprise Treasury transformation involving automation, data capabilities, APIs, ERP/TMS integration, or AI-enabled capabilities

Base Salary Range

$166,900.00 - $242,050.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
