Job summary

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare seeks a seasoned finance executive to lead corporate accounting, budgeting and audits for the organization. You will shape financial policy, ensure internal controls, and drive accuracy across financial reporting.

Maintain oversight of the annual audit, coordinate with external auditors, and guide senior leaders on financial performance and strategic planning within a complex healthcare setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Progressive leadership in healthcare financial management 10+ years required.
  • CPA preferred; relevant certifications a plus.
  • Experience directing finance operations, audits, and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex financial information to senior management.

A Brief Overview Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all functions related to the financial management, budgeting, audits, and accounting for the organization. Establishes and implements policies and procedures related to accounting practices. Directs finance operations and fiscal activities for Corporate and Foundations. What you will do
  • System Controller • Directs, organizes, and implements the System’s general accounting operations in order to control the organization’s assets and provide complete and accurate financial information and records.
  • • Maintains expenses and productivity within budgeted guidelines. Investigates alternatives to standard methods and approaches to contain costs and improve services.
  • • Accumulates, reviews, and reports financial information for internal and external customers. Prepares reports for use by senior management to appraise operating results.
  • • Develops, recommends, implements and monitors system financial policies and procedures, and establishes internal controls to safeguard the assets of the Corporation.
  • • Directs annual audit process. Coordinates and develops plans with external auditors; supervises development of lead schedules and supporting schedules for auditors; monitors progress; generates financial statements for inclusion in audit report.
  • • Responsible for developing and meeting the short and long range plans of operation for the Corporate Accounting Department. Provides direction and support to managers and staff to ensure departmental effectiveness and efficiency.
  • • Maintains and develops a competent, productive, and quality conscious workforce. Develops and implements processes through orientation, training and education to ensure that the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, improved and demonstrated throughout their employment.
  • CFO – Corporate & Foundations • Plans, organizes, implements, and directs finance operations.
  • • Administers policies and procedures related to accounting practices.
  • • Directs all fiscal activities such as accounting, budgets, audits, taxes, and the preparation of regulatory and governmental agency reports.
  • • Maintains interface with departments to ensure compliance with established budgets and operational plans to investigate variances and recommend solutions.
  • • Determines cause of major variances, remedial alternatives, and effect on operations.
  • • Prepares reports for key management with explanations of deviations from approved budget.
Education/Formal Training Requirements

  • Required - Progressive leadership in healthcare financial management 10+ years
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
  • Preferred - Certified Public Accountant (CPA) American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities A strong background in and comprehensive knowledge of financial management and metrics. Must be skilled at interpreting financial performance and adept at skillfully communicating ideas and strategies to the senior management team. Able to demonstrate a track record of success in strategic planning in a complex healthcare environment. Ability to communicate verbally with all levels of Associates, management and Board members including the ability to communicate complex technical material. Ability to work independently and to exercise independent judgment. Knowledge of computerized general ledger and other accounting systems and ability to use PC-based analytical tools. Must demonstrate strong quantitative/problem-solving abilities including mathematical, statistical and computer skills.

Supervision Provided by this Position Manages directly or indirectly the leaders and staff assigned to Corporate Accounting and Foundation accounting/finance and donor relations.

Physical Demands The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
