Job description

We are seeking an outcome-driven Vice President, Product Strategy & Commercialization to own an assigned product portfolio from opportunity identification through commercialization and growth. This role is responsible for ensuring customer needs, market opportunities, product investments, and commercialization efforts remain aligned around a common strategy and deliver measurable business outcomes.

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, this leader will work across product, technical, design, and go-to-market functions to identify growth opportunities, guide investment decisions, and translate strategy into measurable customer and business outcomes. This role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on ownership of portfolio performance and market success. While the role does not have formal authority over Engineering, Sales, Marketing, or Customer Experience, it is accountable for aligning those functions around shared portfolio objectives and outcomes.

Success in this role is defined not by the volume of features delivered, but by the ability to create market impact, accelerate growth, strengthen customer outcomes, and turn strategic investments into measurable results.

What You’ll Own
  • Define the strategy and long‑term direction for an assigned product portfolio.
  • Balance investments across core offerings, growth opportunities, and emerging innovations.
  • Evaluate portfolio tradeoffs and make recommendations regarding investment, acceleration, incubation, partnership, acquisition, or retirement.
  • Ensure portfolio priorities remain aligned to customer needs, market conditions, and company objectives.
  • Partner with executive leadership on portfolio planning, resource allocation, and growth initiatives.
  • Own or materially influence product‑line economics, revenue performance, pricing strategy, investment decisions, forecast inputs, and growth initiatives.
  • Drive measurable outcomes across bookings, adoption, retention, expansion, win rate, and customer impact.
  • Ensure every major investment has a clear path from strategy to market success.
  • Monitor market performance and adjust priorities based on customer, competitive, and business signals.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, Finance, and executive leadership to maximize portfolio performance.
  • Partner closely with innovation and technical leaders to evaluate emerging opportunities and bring successful concepts to market.
  • Establish clear criteria for deciding when innovations should be productized, scaled, partnered, deferred, or discontinued.
  • Drive the transition from concept to validation, productization, commercialization, and growth.
  • Ensure innovation investments generate meaningful customer value and measurable business outcomes.
  • Leverage AI and automation opportunities where appropriate to accelerate growth, differentiation, and operational effectiveness.
Customer & Market Leadership
  • Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities.
  • Ensure customer insights, market intelligence, and competitive signals directly inform portfolio decisions.
  • Champion customer outcomes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Drive positioning, differentiation, and commercialization strategies that strengthen market performance and competitive advantage.
  • Help shape compelling narratives that connect product capabilities with customer and business outcomes.
Cross‑Functional Leadership
  • Align Product Management, Product Marketing, AI Innovation, Technical Leadership, and Design & Research around a shared portfolio strategy.
  • Lead and coach senior Product Management and Product Marketing individual contributors to drive aligned execution and outcomes.
  • Foster strong alignment between product investments, customer needs, technical capabilities, and commercial execution.
  • Create clarity around priorities, tradeoffs, ownership, and success measures.
  • Influence across functions without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Present portfolio strategy, performance, opportunities, and risks to executive leadership.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, investment discussions, and long‑term growth initiatives.
  • Support customer briefings, analyst interactions, industry events, and thought leadership activities when appropriate.
  • Help communicate the role of the portfolio within the company’s broader product, AI, and growth strategy.
What Success Looks Like
  • Portfolio investments are focused on the highest‑value customer and business opportunities.
  • Product, commercialization, and innovation efforts operate as an integrated system.
  • New opportunities consistently move from concept to market impact.
  • Customers achieve measurable outcomes from portfolio investments.
  • Product launches drive adoption, retention, expansion, and revenue growth.
  • Emerging opportunities are successfully converted into differentiated products and capabilities.
  • The portfolio develops a strong and differentiated market position.
  • Cross‑functional teams are aligned around shared goals, priorities, and business outcomes.
Qualifications
  • 12+ years of leadership experience across Product Management, Product Marketing, Product Strategy, General Management, or related B2B SaaS disciplines.
  • Proven success driving products, portfolios, or businesses from strategy through commercialization and growth.
  • Candidates may originate in Product Management, Product Marketing, or General Management, but must demonstrate deep expertise in one discipline and meaningful operating ownership in the other.
  • Strong understanding of commercialization, market positioning, customer value creation, and business performance.
  • Experience owning or materially influencing product‑line economics, pricing, investment decisions, growth initiatives, or commercial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect customer needs, product strategy, and go‑to‑market execution.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to engage credibly with modern SaaS platforms, APIs, AI technologies, automation, and engineering teams.
  • Exceptional cross‑functional leadership and executive communication skills.
  • Experience presenting recommendations, business cases, portfolio strategies, or investment proposals to senior leadership.
  • Board, analyst, or investor‑facing experience is helpful but not required.
  • Experience in accessibility, compliance, developer platforms, workflow software, AI‑enabled products, or adjacent enterprise software markets is helpful but not required.
