Job summary

Qualifications

  • Masters in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or related field.
  • 6-8 years of progressively responsible related work experience demonstrating requisite job knowledge/abilities.
  • 4 years in a supervisory or management capacity in a healthcare delivery organization.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Execute short- and long-term strategic plans in alignment with goals and value-based care.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee daily hospital/campus operations including plant, environmental services, dietary, supply chain, and clinical support.
  • Performance Improvement: Lead change management and optimize quality, safety, and patient experience metrics.
  • Business Development: Pursue market share growth, identify new service opportunities, manage external relationships.
  • Budgeting: Direct annual capital budgets; monitor monthly financial reports, productivity metrics and variances.
  • Capital Improvements: Oversee renovation, construction and equipment procurement projects.
  • Resource Optimization: Align resources to achieve financial targets and efficiency.
  • Staffing & Competency: Ensure staffing levels, competency assessments, and orientation programs.
  • Clinical Liaison: Bridge administration, medical staff and nursing leadership for integrated service delivery.
  • Governance: Ensure compliance with federal/state/accreditation requirements and internal controls.
  • Policy Development: Implement policies, standards and procedures to support mandates.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our VP of Operations you will lead hospital campus operations, driving clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic growth while partnering with physicians and key stakeholders to ensure a safe, high-quality, cost-effective patient care environment. Every day you will empower leaders, optimize resources, and turn operational priorities into measurable results across the campus. You’ll strengthen teams, advance key initiatives, and build strong partnerships that support exceptional care and long‑term growth. To be successful, you’ll bring strong strategic and analytical thinking, sound resource stewardship, and the ability to lead change through collaboration and influence. You’ll also have a solid understanding of healthcare operations, a proven ability to develop and lead teams, and exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills.

Essential Functions
  • Strategic Planning: Execute short- and long‑term strategic plans in alignment with organizational goals and value‑based care models.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee daily hospital/campus operations, including plant operations, environmental services, dietary, supply chain, and clinical support services (e.g., respiratory, imaging, perioperative).
  • Performance Improvement: Lead change management initiatives and implement structured methodologies to optimize quality, safety, and patient experience metrics.
  • Business Development: Pursue market share growth, identify new service opportunities, and manage external relationships with community constituents and healthcare partners.
  • Budgeting: Direct the development of annual capital budgets. Exercise cost control by monitoring monthly financial reports, productivity metrics, and variance analysis.
  • Capital Improvements: Oversee facility renovation, construction, and equipment procurement projects.
  • Resource Optimization: Align resources to achieve defined financial targets and operational efficiency.
  • Staffing & Competency: Ensure appropriate staffing levels, competency assessments, and orientation programs are in place to maintain high standards of care.
  • Clinical Liaison: Serve as a bridge between administration, medical staff, and nursing leadership to address operational challenges and ensure integrated service delivery.
  • Governance: Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements. Monitor effectiveness of internal controls to prevent improprieties.
  • Policy Development: Direct the implementation of policies, standards, and procedures to support the organization’s philosophy and legal mandates.

Where You'll Work

CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 236‑bed regional referral center serving Kearney and communities throughout central Nebraska. As part of CommonSpirit Health, Good Samaritan provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services and is the region’s only Level II trauma center. The hospital has earned national recognition for quality and patient care, including CMS five‑star ratings, and continues to invest in advanced services—including an Advanced Level II NICU and expanded women’s health and cardiac capabilities.

Pay Range

$83.42 - $116.79 /hour
