Responsibilities
  • Oversee platform, applications, database, and technology infrastructure, ensuring you & your team effectively develop & deliver planned features on time and in an efficient manner.
  • Directly contribute to building the platform, writing code and creating tech stack.
  • Create and maintain processes that ensure high quality products can be delivered
  • Manage & build technology & engineering organization. You will mentor and empower a diverse group of engineers by defining individual roles and responsibilities, generating buy-in, allocating resources, and managing team and individual progress and happiness.
  • Be a key thought partner, informing strategic and product roadmaps, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing methods to streamline execution across the company.
  • Drive and own key architectural and technical trade-off decisions that balance serving rapidly growing customer demand while building a scalable platform for the long term; ensure technology is versatile and set up to scale & enhance properly with future growth.
Requirements

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Up for the challenge of solving problems while working and building with intent in a fast paced environment.
  • Not afraid to get their hands dirty, write code and fulfill the evolving role as manager of a small but fast growing team.
  • Energized by the ambiguity and intensity inherent in a rapidly growing, early stage company, taking initiative to drive the team to achieve great things.
  • Extremely comfortable working on fullstack applications, web and mobile, and databases.
  • Experienced with synthesizing input from internal & external teams, and from within the tech organization, to make critical prioritization decisions.
  • Very capable of designing, implementing, and revising development and testing processes that yield high quality products, deliver results on time, and maximize the team's happiness.
  • Experienced with, and enjoys, the unique challenges of marketplaces.
  • Experienced with leading a team at a venture-backed company (or equivalent) through a product launch.
  • Very capable of hiring, motivating, mentoring, managing, and assessing distributed teams.
  • Very collaborative with other team members within & across teams and US/international cities, and an excellent communicator
  • Extremely agile & flexible, since we will evolve a lot as a company.
Experience
  • Worked for over 10 years in fast paced environments
  • 4 years managing an engineering team (in-house and outsourced), preferably in an early stage startup environment.
Technical skills required:
  • HTML/CSS front-end expertise
  • Familiarity with React Native
  • Familiarity working with databases like MySQL
  • Experience with vendor system/application integration
