About the Role

Media Transformation (MT) is Monks’ practice for helping enterprise brands improve business outcomes by modernizing how media is planned, activated, and measured. Combining consulting, hands‑on media expertise, and emerging technology, MT helps clients build more effective operating models, accelerate innovation, and develop lasting media capabilities.

MT began in 2017 with an in‑housing program that Harvard Business School now teaches as a case study. Today it works as both a specialized consultancy and an embedded capability partner. Engagements range from focused projects (audits, taxonomy, pilots) to full in‑housing transitions and evergreen embedded teams. Positioned between Consulting and Managed Media, MT turns advanced strategy into a working operating engine.

As VP and executive lead, you will set the practice's operational and commercial strategy, scale its advisory capabilities, and build bespoke solutions for what's next in paid media and advertising. You will run the day‑to‑day business and a multidisciplinary team of 35+, hold financial accountability, and set delivery standards. You will own revenue growth: retaining and expanding existing accounts, winning new ones, and evolving MT's capabilities as client needs change.

You will be an executive sponsor to senior client stakeholders and build long‑term relationships with strategic enterprise clients and partners. You will shape and expand Media Transformation's offerings, combining consulting, media operations, and emerging technology to help clients modernize how media is planned, activated, measured, and managed.

Across Monks, you will build strategic partnerships with Data, Managed Media, Creative, DCO, and internal technology teams to develop integrated solutions and create shared growth opportunities. You will also represent MT in cross‑company initiatives, client escalations and new business pitches, positioning Monks as the leading transformation partner for enterprise marketing teams.

Experience Sought:
  • Operating Model Design & In‑House Consulting: You can diagnose friction in enterprise marketing organizations and design what fixes it: operating models, in‑housing roadmaps, agency transitions, change management, embedded teams and targeted interventions such as AI readiness assessments and measurement maturity frameworks.
  • Ad Tech, Data & AI Innovation: You bring a strong understanding of modern ad tech, data, and AI capabilities, with the judgment to guide technical strategy and identify opportunities for innovation. You empower technical leaders and subject matter experts to design scalable client solutions, while building the partnerships and capabilities needed to turn emerging technologies into adopted ways of working.
  • Executive Partnerships: You have experience building senior‑level relationships across complex enterprise brands and key platform partners. As a trusted advisor, you keep and grow accounts by multi‑threading relationships across the client's executive team, spotting unmet business needs early, handling escalations and shaping the next transformation engagement.
  • Cross‑Monks Integration: You build strategic partnerships across Managed Media, Data & Analytics, Creative, and Monks' internal technology teams to develop integrated solutions, strengthen delivery capabilities, and create shared growth opportunities.
  • Commercial Growth & Pitch Excellence: You have a strong sales instinct and proven ability to drive revenue growth by leading and winning new business pitches, expanding current accounts and cross‑selling Monks capabilities.
  • Offer Development & Go‑to‑Market: You develop and commercialize new MT offerings by combining the practice's consulting and operational expertise with capabilities from across Monks, including internal technology and AI‑powered solutions. You build repeatable services, delivery models, and go‑to‑market strategies that support client adoption and revenue growth.
  • Talent Elevation & Team Health: You are a strong leader who coaches and develops directors, managers and multidisciplinary teams. You uplevel your team through training and feedback, foster a culture of inclusion, belonging, accountability and support, and build the governance, QA and operating systems that keep working when you're not in the room.
  • Fiscal Ownership: You have experience leading a multimillion‑dollar business unit, owning its revenue, margin and budget targets, and accurately forecasting pipeline, revenue and headcount. You scope engagements for profitability and manage cost drivers such as staffing mix and utilization. You track financial performance by account and course‑correct early to protect margin without compromising client impact.
About You
The essentials:
  • 12+ years of leadership in media operations, digital transformation or management consulting, across agency, brand‑side or consulting settings.
  • Experience leading teams of 25+ across tech stack consulting, media strategy, dynamic creative and/or embedded client services.
  • Hands‑on experience leading at least one end‑to‑end in‑housing or agency transition, from assessment through handover.
  • Deep experience partnering with, training or advising in‑house brand teams, deploying custom operating models, staff augmentation structures and marketing maturity roadmaps.
  • Strategic literacy across core ad tech and media platforms, including Google Marketing Platform (DV360, CM360, SA360), Google Ads, GA4, Amazon DSP, AMC, The Trade Desk, Meta Ads and leading ad serving/DCO platforms (Google Studio, Flashtalking, Innovid).
  • Experience presenting complex organizational change strategies, operational playbooks and business solutions to C‑suite and partner‑level audiences.
  • Based in New York City or on the West Coast (either is preferred), with regular travel to client sites and Monks offices.

At Monks, we believe in fostering an environment where a diversity of perspectives can thrive. We proactively work to design hiring processes that promote equity and inclusion while mitigating bias. We celebrate diversity and are committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve. We welcome and encourage qualified applicants, from all backgrounds, who are excited to contribute to our mission.
