Job summary

Barclays is seeking a Liquid Financing Data/AI Engineer – VP in New York to design and enhance data-driven financing platforms using Python/Java, AWS, and AI capabilities. The role emphasizes collaboration with quants, risk, and frontline teams to accelerate digital transformation and deliver scalable solutions.

You will work with modern data engineering, real-time processing, and secure software practices while aligning with Barclays' strategic technology initiatives and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering background in Python and/or Java, with depth in at least one language and working competence in the other.
• Extensive AWS experience (ECS, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, Step Functions, IAM).
• Understanding of Kubernetes for deploying containerized services in production.
• Excellent communication to explain trade-offs to engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and integrating AI capabilities (LLMs, embeddings) into apps.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver scalable software using relevant languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Collaborate with product, design, and other engineers to define requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Participate in code reviews and promote code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay updated on tech trends and contribute to technology communities.
• Adhere to secure coding practices and implement unit testing.
