Job summary

Atlas Search seeks an experienced Mainframe Infrastructure Engineering Manager to lead a technical team responsible for enterprise mainframe systems and infrastructure. This hybrid role offers Pittsburgh, PA or Lake Mary, FL locations with a strong focus on modernization and lifecycle management.

You will blend hands-on mainframe knowledge with leadership, mentoring, and strategic oversight of z/OS, JCL, DB2, IMS, CICS and related tooling across the org.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience within enterprise IT environments.
• Strong direct experience with mainframe infrastructure and z/OS systems.
• Background in mainframe systems programming, infrastructure engineering, architecture, or related disciplines.
• Experience with SMP/E, system maintenance, software installation, and mainframe lifecycle management.
• Exposure to ISV products from vendors such as Broadcom, BMC, Rocket, Precisely, Macro4, or PKWARE.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and complex enterprise initiatives.
• Strong understanding of mainframe architecture, tooling, and data transport.
• Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience is a plus.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience?

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop teams responsible for enterprise mainframe infrastructure and z/OS environments.
• Oversee hardware and software lifecycle management, upgrades, maintenance, and platform enhancements.
• Provide leadership across technologies including z/OS, JCL, DB2, IMS, CICS, SMP/E, ISPF/TSO, RACF, ACF2, and TSS.
• Oversee installation and maintenance of IBM operating systems and third-party mainframe software.
• Lead complex infrastructure projects and programs from planning through implementation.
• Partner with application development, production services, data center, architecture, and infrastructure teams.
• Drive automation, modernization, operational improvements, and platform reliability.
• Provide technical direction while coaching, mentoring, and developing engineering talent.
• Manage relationships and communicate effectively with senior technical and business stakeholders.
• Support ITSM processes including release, change, configuration, and CMDB management.

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Infrastructure Engineering Manager to lead a highly technical team responsible for enterprise mainframe systems and infrastructure. This individual will oversee the delivery, lifecycle management, modernization, and ongoing enhancement of critical mainframe platforms while providing technical and people leadership across the organization.
