Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, communications, marketing, public administration, conservation, education, or a related field required.
• Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in fundraising/development or related field with success in major gift fundraising.
• Proven experience cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations, or other significant funding sources.
• Experience mentoring fundraising professionals or multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong strategic thinking and organizational skills with the ability to balance long‑term strategy with hands‑on execution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for proposals, donor communications, and related materials.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills.
• Ability to work effectively across departments and organizations and build collaboration around shared goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead Development/Fundraising, Conservation, and Education functions with priorities and strategies.
• Develop fundraising strategies to increase philanthropic support and donor pipelines.
• Personally manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects with cultivation and solicitation.
• Lead major gift and comprehensive fundraising efforts with senior leadership and staff.
• Supervise Major Gifts Managers and provide coaching to strengthen effectiveness.
• Oversee conservation and education programs aligning with mission and priorities.
• Build high‑level relationships with donors, leaders, officials, foundations, and partners.
• Develop compelling fundraising materials communicating SCIF’s priorities to donors.
