Job summary

LPL Financial is seeking an experienced attorney to support its retirement and recordkeeping business as Vice President, Assistant General Counsel. The role requires advising on regulatory developments from DOL, IRS, SEC, FINRA and state regulators, and working with business teams to support retirement platforms.

The candidate will draft and negotiate contracts, provide compliance analysis, and support omnibus recordkeeping relationships with third-party providers.

Qualifications

• Must hold a JD and be admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 8+ years of experience in financial services counseling on laws, rules and regulations impacting retirement plans and accounts.
• Significant expertise with ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code.
• Experience advising on collective investment trusts and omnibus recordkeeping.
• Interest in developing AI proficiency and adopting emerging AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Advise on regulatory and contractual issues for retirement business across broker-dealer, custodial and recordkeeping platforms.
• Perform legal analysis of compliance, regulatory and contractual issues including ERISA fiduciary duties and prohibited transactions.
• Draft and negotiate contracts with retirement plan clients, platform providers, product sponsors and service providers.
• Draft agreements, disclosures and communications for retail IRA and retirement plan clients.
• Support maintenance of retirement business within advisory and brokerage platforms.
