Job description

SEYF’s 12-month internship program is thoughtfully designed to provide a supportive, inclusive, and growth-oriented environment where emerging clinicians can deepen their understanding of therapeutic work while developing a strong foundation in clinical practice.

Intern Therapists receive hands-on experience with youth and families from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds, gaining valuable exposure to real-world challenges and the tools to address them effectively and compassionately.

Throughout the internship, Intern Therapists will strengthen their skills in areas such as clinical evaluation, risk assessment, case conceptualization, critical thinking, and clinical documentation. Emphasis is also placed on work-life balance, professional boundaries, and long-term sustainability in the mental health field. Interns are encouraged to engage with curiosity, humility, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Intern Therapists must be currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or a related field. Under the guidance of licensed clinicians, Intern Therapists will participate in individual and group supervision, receive regular feedback, and participate in ongoing professional development training.

Key Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To)
  • Providing individual and family therapy services with cultural humility and responsiveness
  • Maintaining accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation
  • Conducting assessments, case conceptualization and interventions
  • Participating in outreach and advocacy efforts
  • Developing knowledge of community resources
  • Upholding ethical and legal standards, including HIPAA compliance
  • Participating actively in supervision and trainings
