Responsibilities

The Hospice Volunteer Manager supports operations by leading, managing, and coordinating agency volunteers. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, providing ongoing education, and assigning volunteers in accordance with regulatory and state guidelines.

Ensure the volunteer program meets standards set by regulatory bodies and company policies regarding volunteer participation.

Submit timely reports to leadership on volunteer activities and participation levels, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements of 5% volunteer hours.

Coordinate with patients, caregivers, families, and hospice team members to assign volunteer activities related to patient care.

Assign volunteers appropriately, monitor reports, and escalate urgent issues to supervisors.

Maintain accurate documentation of volunteer activities in the electronic medical record system, complying with federal and state standards.

The Bereavement Coordinator supervises bereavement services, demonstrating proficiency across diverse populations and providing compassionate, individualized care. Responsibilities include establishing a care plan addressing bereavement needs for up to 13 months post-death, leading grief support groups, maintaining bereavement records, and documenting care in compliance with standards.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience (preferred)
  • Experience in healthcare or working with people (preferred)
  • Proven management and leadership skills (preferred)

Skill Requirements

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • CPR certification, valid driver’s license, insurance, access to a dependable vehicle or transportation
  • Effective communication with a positive attitude
  • Ability to evaluate and coordinate volunteer services
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative
