Responsibilities

• Promotes the sport within the school.
• Responsible for the implementation of athletic policies by coaching staff and athletes.
• Provides and promotes safe coaching mechanics, techniques and supervision.
• Maintains good public relations with parents, officials, Booster Clubs, volunteers and fans.
• Adheres to proper administrative channels for requests or grievances.
• Maintains discipline and assists in boosting morale and cooperation.
• Develops a program compliant with the Rockingham County Schools Athletic Handbook and NCHSAA.
• Assists athletic director with scheduling, budget development, and travel arrangements.
• Documents state and system requirements for physicals, parental consent, and eligibility.
• Communicates training rules and regulations to each athlete.
• Monitors student-athletes’ grades and conduct; present at practices and games.
• Provides guidance and safeguards for participants.
• Submits injury paperwork within 24 hours.
• Organizes pre-season meetings with parents, coaches, players and guests.
• Contributes to budgeting for next season and ensures facility times are met.
• Safeguards equipment management and inventory, and marks equipment properly.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director/Principal.

Athletic Coach

Position Summary:

An individual in this position will be a personal example of high moral character and superior teaching and coaching standards. The Coach will model and teach good sportsmanship as the number one priority in athletics. This Coach will work with faculty and staff to support player academic and athletic success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Promotes the sport within the school.
• Responsible for the implementation of the athletic policies by the entire coaching staff and athletes of the sports program.
• Provides and promotes safe coaching mechanics, techniques and supervision.
• Responsible for maintaining good public relations with parents, officials, Booster Clubs, volunteers and fans.
• Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels.
• Maintains discipline, addresses grievances as appropriate, and works to increase morale and cooperation.
• Develops a program in compliance with Rockingham County Schools Athletic Handbook as well as the NCHSAA.
• Assists the athletic director in scheduling, development of budget, administration of the athletics budget, and making travel arrangements, when necessary.
• Provides documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
• Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant.
• Gives constant attention to student athletes’ grades and conduct. Present at all practices and games.
• Provides assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant.
• Completes and submits proper paperwork on all disabling athletic injuries to the athletic director and school administration within 24 hours.
• Organizes parents, coaches, players and guests for pre-season meetings.
• Participates in the budgeting function with the Athletic Director by establishing requirements for the next season.
• Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times.
• Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
• Accountable for all equipment and/or collection of fees for any lost or unreturned equipment. Arranges for issuing, storing, and reconditioning of equipment and submits annual inventory and current records. Properly marks and identifies all equipment before issuing or storing.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director/Principal
