Working Conditions

Work is performed in a shelter and office environment with regular interaction with animals and volunteers. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, bending, and working both indoors and outdoors. Exposure to zoonotic diseases, loud noises, and varying weather conditions may occur. Schedule flexibility including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays is required to support program needs.

Requirements
  • 1 year of experience in customer service, volunteer coordination, community programs, or related field.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems (Microsoft Office, Outlook, databases).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle animals safely when needed in coordination with volunteer duties.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in an animal shelter, nonprofit, or volunteer services environment.
  • Training or experience in conflict resolution, coaching, or program coordination.
  • Experience with volunteer management software.
