Job summary

LifeWise Academy seeks a dedicated teacher to share gospel-based curriculum with public school students in a classroom setting. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with strong communication and interpersonal skills, caring and perceptive.

Responsibilities include completing training, teaching LifeWise classes, keeping attendance records, and maintaining an organized, redemptive classroom. A commitment to LifeWise beliefs and local church involvement is essential.

Qualifications

• A minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience (with students) in either a school or church setting
• A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
• Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the "What We Believe" section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith

Responsibilities

• Complete Initial and Ongoing Training — Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and prior to teaching in the LifeWise classroom
• Teach LifeWise Classes — Utilize the LifeWise curriculum to lesson plan and map out curriculum customization; Implement the LifeWise curriculum in the classroom; Invest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them regularly; Cultivate an organized, encouraging and engaging classroom environment through various teaching strategies and discipline that is redemptive in nature; Apply LifeWise policies, procedures and resources
• Maintain Records — Take attendance in each class and provide attendance records to LifeWise program director and/or school officials as needed; Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permissions as noted on parent permission slips; Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher as needed
• Maintain the Classroom — Maintain a clean, attractive and well-ordered classroom; Know procedures for dealing with emergency situations; Purchase classroom supplies as needed using funds provided by program director
• Communicate — Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community; Attend annual school open house and other outreach events as available; Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being; Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes; Submit regular updates, stories and photos to program director; Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs
