Job summary

LifeWise Academy in Indiana is seeking a LifeWise Teacher who blends in-depth Bible knowledge with engaging classroom instruction for public school students. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, caring, perceptive, and proficient in teaching children.

The role requires completing the LifeWise Teacher Certification within 30 days of start, ongoing training, and using the LifeWise curriculum to foster relationships with students

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of classroom teaching experience with students.
• Active participation in a local church whose doctrine aligns with LifeWise beliefs.
• Solid personal Christian faith consistent with LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.

Responsibilities

• Complete Initial and Ongoing Training: Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and prior to teaching in the LifeWise classroom.
• Teach LifeWise Classes: Use LifeWise curriculum to lesson plan and map out curriculum customization; Implement the LifeWise curriculum in the classroom; Invest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them regularly; Cultivate an organized, encouraging and engaging classroom environment; Apply LifeWise policies, procedures and resources.
• Maintain Records: Take attendance in each class and provide attendance records to LifeWise program director and/or school officials as needed; Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns and photo permissions; Prepare materials for substitutes.
• Maintain the Classroom: Keep a clean, attractive and well-ordered classroom; Know procedures for emergencies; Purchase classroom supplies as needed.
• Communicate: Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community; Attend open houses and outreach events; Maintain dialogue with school personnel; Build relationships with volunteers; Submit updates to the program director; Promote LifeWise's religious mission in all duties.

Job Description

• Complete Initial and Ongoing Training
  • Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and prior to teaching in the LifeWise classroom
  • Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit each year
  • Attend at least one Teachers' Lounge or one LifeWise Meet-Up per year
  • Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email
• Teach LifeWise Classes
  • Utilize the LifeWise curriculum to lesson plan and map out curriculum customization
  • Implement the LifeWise curriculum in the classroom
  • Invest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them regularly
  • Cultivate an organized, encouraging and engaging classroom environment through various teaching strategies and discipline that is redemptive in nature
  • Apply LifeWise policies, procedures and resources

  • Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permissions as noted on parent permission slips
  • Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher as needed

  • Purchase classroom supplies as needed using funds provided by program director
• Communicate
  • Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community
  • Attend annual school open house and other outreach events as available
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being
  • Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes
  • Submit regular updates, stories and photos to program directorPromote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs
