Job summary

Hospice of the Midwest in Guthrie Center, IA seeks a compassionate Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and support volunteers. You will assess patient and family needs, supervise volunteers, and coordinate education meetings with an interdisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates have experience in volunteer management, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and a commitment to quality end-of-life care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
• Prior hospice and/or volunteer program management experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the hospice philosophy of care.
• Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel.
• Skill in planning and delivering volunteer training and orientation programs.
• Ability to assess patient and family needs for volunteer services.
• Skill in supervising and evaluating volunteer performance.
• Ability to coordinate support and educational meetings.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements related to hospice services.
• Ability to communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, community groups, and individuals.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to contribute to budget planning and program development.
• Commitment to quality improvement and compliance activities.
