Job summary

California State University, Bakersfield is seeking an Indoor Volleyball Assistant Coach (Coaching Assistant – 12 Month), part-time, temporary for the 2026/2027 year. The role supports the Head Coach with team management, player development, game strategy, and recruiting.

Meets NCAA rules and drives program growth with a positive, competitive culture. The position requires a bachelor’s degree and coaching experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Two or more years of coaching experience.
Ability to work with student-athletes from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to comply with NCAA and University rules.

Responsibilities

Teach and instruct student-athletes in volleyball and develop skills.
Develop team and individual strategies to win through on‑court teaching and video instruction.
Design programs and game plans for competitions.
Travel to events and recruit prospects via email, phone, and in-person discussions.
Complete compliance and institutional documentation as required.
Recruit student‑athletes who meet academic and athletic standards.
Support athletes’ academic progress with the campus support staff.
Work with NCAA Compliance to ensure rules compliance.
Help manage an annual budget.
Promote the program to media, donors, and the university community.
