Job description
Overview

LS Technologies, a subsidiary of Tetra Tech, is seeking a Voice Systems Engineer. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic, growing, cross-functional, and geographically distributed team to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in upgrading the National Airspace System (NAS) infrastructure. This is a remote position that may require occasional overnight travel to our office in Washington, DC and/or other locations as needed to support customer activities. Position is a full-time, exempt position.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for design, development, modification, and evaluation of complex Air-to-Ground (A/G) radio, voice switch, voice control systems (VCS), voice recording and protocol conversion systems used to provide operational Air Traffic Control (ATC) communications. The candidate will be instrumental in system engineering and advanced research and development associated with designing products during pre-delivery design, integration, and acceptance. Products principally involved are digital radio and voice systems installed in FAA facilities that are equipped with IP technology to enable voice and data communication over a secure network (VoIP), which will enable air-ground communications between pilots and air traffic controllers in facilities across the U.S.

Duties will include technical responsibility for planning and executing technical programs, projects, or phases of projects to include customer interface, requirements development, design reviews, and technical interchanges, and all aspects of prototype/product system design, development, demonstration, evaluation, installation, acceptance, and O&M support.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be able to obtain a US Government Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, System Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another relevant field
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience developing and implementing real-time ED-137 compliant UHF/VHF radio and voice switching system architectures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to assist in the development of implementation and transition plans for telecommunications networks and systems, radio, and voice systems.
  • Ability to use and maintain engineering tools, including hardware/software products.
  • Ability to apply customer service, engineering, electronics installation, and computer skills to assist in performing field implementation work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with supervisors, co-workers, employees, and customer field force personnel.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to research, collate and present information effectively, in both verbal and written forms.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform with evolving priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive issues with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Able to effectively resolve problems and conflicts.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another relevant field
  • Experience leading development and integration of prototype and/or production RF mission systems.
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Experience with developing performance-based specifications and statements of work
  • Experience in working on a multi-disciplinary team and generated technical procedures for testing, deploying, integrating, and commissioning RF mission systems.
  • Experience with agile development.

Compensation (Pay Bands)

Salary at LST is determined by a wide array of factors, such as education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The salary information is a general guideline only. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full-time, 40-hour/week status. Part-time staff receive compensation at an hourly rate. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represent the broadest range for this position and are just one component of LST's total compensation package for employees. In compliance with local laws, LS Technologies presents this reasonable compensation range as a guideline for roles in California, Colorado, New York, or Washington D.C.
