Job summary

Aetos Systems, Inc. seeks a Voice Systems Engineer III to research, design, integrate, test, document, and oversee the installation of voice communications at Kennedy Space Center.

This is a represented staff position with the IBEW Union. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with five years’ experience, or a Master’s degree with three years, be a U.S. citizen, and pass NASA background checks and drug testing. Florida driver’s license required.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen with ability to pass NASA background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Establish voice comm system requirements and define system architectures.
  • Produce voice communications installation designs and documentation.
  • Develop system Acceptance Test Procedures, Functional Test Procedures, and Operational Instructions.
  • Work with Drafting team to create and maintain detailed system drawings.
  • Integrate custom and COTS products into current voice systems architecture and design.
  • Provide labor and material estimates for system upgrade/expansion projects.

Job Summary:

The Voice Systems Engineer III researches, designs, develops, integrates, tests, documents, and oversees the installation of electrical communication systems at Kennedy Space Center, including analog and digital Voice Communications systems.

This is a represented staff position with the IBEW Union.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Frequent use and application of communication engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Establish voice comm system requirements and define system architectures.
  • Produce voice comm installation designs and documentation.
  • Develop system Acceptance Test Procedures, Functional Test Procedures, and Operational Instructions.
  • Work with Drafting team members to create and maintain detailed system drawings.
  • Integrate custom and COTS products into current voice comm systems architecture and design.
  • Perform sustaining engineering such as obsolescence part replacement, software upgrades, server maintenance, failure analysis, and trending.
  • Orchestrate system troubleshooting efforts for escalated trouble calls.
  • Create engineering instructions for work orders affecting system design and configuration changes.
  • Research and order materials/components that meet voice systems specifications.
  • Assess system upgrade/expansion projects and provide labor and material estimates.
  • Provide solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Work under general supervision.

Required Minimum Education and Years of Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is required, plus 5 years’ experience, or a Master’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an engineering program accredited by ABET and three (3) years of Engineering Experience.

Required Skills, Qualifications, Technical Experience, Certifications, etc.:

  • Strong understanding of Engineering principles and technologies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and computer administration.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to pass a NASA background investigation.
  • Must be able to pass an initial and random drug test.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements

  • Normally works in an environmentally controlled setting.
  • Occasionally works at customer sites, including outdoors.
  • Outdoor conditions may include cold and hot temperatures, high humidity, and windy conditions.
  • Sometimes requires lifting 35 - 50 pounds, working on uneven surfaces, and standing for long periods.
