Job summary

Milliken and Company in Hudson, NH is hiring a Knit Production Variable Overhead Supervisor to oversee the knit production process, manage labor resources, and ensure safe, efficient, high-quality output.

You will coordinate daily operations with production leadership, supervise staff, and lead continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to safety and quality standards. This role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and SAP familiarity.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in manufacturing, knit production, or textile industry preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, and SAP or equivalent systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate associates supporting knit production operations, including shift staffing, job assignments, and daily workflow management.
  • Ensure appropriate manning levels are maintained to meet production requirements and customer demand.
  • Monitor labor usage, timekeeping, and attendance to ensure accurate payroll in Workforce.
  • Enforce all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations; participate in safety tailgate meetings.
  • Identify and initiate corrective actions for safety, quality, and production issues; support root cause analysis.
  • Maintain records and reports related to labor, production, and department performance items.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and production specs; support 100% first quality output.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas throughout the department.
  • Assign new beams to knit machines, hang and unhang beams through SAP.
  • Perform daily quality checks during the workday.
  • Check for and resolve issues in SAP knit machines.
  • Troubleshoot quality and SAP-identified issues as needed.
  • Coordinate weekly UNIFI beam trailer, PTM outgoing finished goods and empty trailers.
  • Participate in scheduled quarterly inventories.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Knit Production Variable Overhead Supervisor is responsible for supporting the knit production process by overseeing variable overhead resources (including labor, staffing, and related cost elements) to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role is accountable for coordinating daily operations, optimizing resource utilization, and maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, and production schedules. The Supervisor works closely with production leadership to drive continuous improvement, associate engagement, and operational performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise and coordinate associates supporting knit production operations, including shift staffing, job assignments, and daily workflow management.
  • Ensure appropriate manning levels are maintained to meet production requirements and customer demand.
  • Monitor labor usage, timekeeping, and attendance to ensure accurate payroll a in Workforce.
  • Enforce all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations; actively participate in safety tailgate meetings to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Identify and initiate corrective actions for safety, quality, and production issues; support root cause analysis and problem resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to labor, production, and department performance leader standard action items metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and production specifications; support efforts to achieve 100% first quality output.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and enforce clean, organized work areas throughout the department.
  • Assign new beams to knit machines, hang and unhang beams through SAP.
  • Perform daily quality checks throughoutthe workday.
  • Check for and resolve COGISin SAPknit machines.
  • Troubleshoot both quality and SAPidentifiedissues as needed.
  • Coordinate weekly UNIFI beam trailer, PTM outgoing finished goods and empty outgoing beam/rack trailer
  • Participate inscheduled quarterlyinventories.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum education requirement: High School diploma or GED
  • Previous manufacturing, knit production, or textile industry experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and related systems (e.g., SAP or equivalent
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work overtime and adjust work scheduled as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, manufacturing, or related field.
  • Prior supervisory or people management experience.
  • Bilingual – Ability to speak both English and Spanish
SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills for troubleshooting and decision-making.
  • Ability to manage labor resources and production priorities effectively.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Manufacturing Environment)
  • Ability to move throughout production areas and around equipment (majority of shift).
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Push 250lbs.carts of fabric, pull 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced production environment.
SHIFT/WORK HOURS
  • Second shift (Monday–Friday), with flexibility required based on operational needs.
  • On-call availability as required to support plant operations.
