Job summary

Region 8 Mental Health is seeking a part-time Vocational Training Instructor to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living and pre-vocational skills through structured training activities and work experiences.

The role requires preparing daily living/work activities, maintaining program standards, and representing the organization positively with consumers, staff, and external partners.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalency required.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Must have a valid MS Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintains documentation as evidence that all duties are completed in accordance with program requirements contained in the Department of Mental Health Operational Standards.
• Maintains proper training, continuing education, qualifications, and other certifications required for this position as written in the Department of Mental Health Operational Standards.
• Represents Region 8 and Region 8 Administration in a positive manner at all times both internally and externally.
• Always leads by example and is a positive role model for coworkers.
• Provides supervision, training, instruction and assistance to consumers with intellectual and developmental disabilities on a daily basis in areas of living skills, pre-vocational skills and work training.
• Inspects, inventories and maintains equipment and supplies used in assigned areas.
• Makes estimates of time and materials required for assigned work area.
• Transports consumers with intellectual and developmental disabilities to and from the center to home and planned activities as needed.
• Performs routine paperwork and documentation as assigned.
• All other duties as assigned by Supervisors.

CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK
