Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking a Vocational Instructor in Georgia to deliver vocational and/or occupational instruction in settings designed for inmates and students. Responsibilities include planning curricula, delivering hands-on lessons in trades such as business, carpentry, plumbing and technology, and evaluating student progress.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, relevant credentials, and at least three years of related experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Must be eligible for or certified by Georgia PSC, NCCER, or comparable entity in the subject areas.
• Three years of full-time wage-earning experience in the subject trade or as an instructor is required.
• Continued employment contingent on required credentials.
• Ability to give clear instructions in the trade/areas.
• Experience in Microsoft Office applications required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Minimum age 18 years.

• Plan and document a program of study meeting students’ needs and abilities.

We are currently seeking a Vocational Instructor who has a passion for providing the highest quality care in an institutional, secure setting. The Vocational Instructor performs instructional services of vocational and/or occupational subjects, such as business, computers/technology, carpentry, plumbing and trades which are designed to help inmates/students learn specified subject matter and acquire vocational skills.

• Prepare course objectives following curriculum standards and applicable requirements by contract.
• Plan and document a program of study that meets the individual needs and abilities of students.
• Provide instruction using handouts, texts, audiovisual aids and other materials. Evaluate students' performance and issue progress reports as required. Assist students with additional instruction as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required.
• Must be eligible for or be certified by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) or by a comparable entity in the subject areas of instruction.
• Three years of full-time, wage-earning experience in the subject vocational trade or in career readiness skills to include technical trade experience; or three years of experience as a certified instructor teaching in the specific trade or subject area is required.
• Continued employment in this position will be contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining required agency credentials.
• Must have the ability to give clear instructions in the trade and/or vocational area.
• Experience in Microsoft Office applications is required.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
