Job summary

Boone Center, Inc. in Hollister, MO is seeking a blended role that combines vocational instruction with direct employment support for individuals with disabilities.

You will design, deliver, and assess classroom-based, on-site, and on-the-job training for multiple programs while also providing job development, placement, coaching, and retention services to help individuals obtain competitive employment. Responsibilities

Job Summary

This blended role combines vocational instruction with direct competitive employment support for individuals with disabilities. The position designs, delivers, and assesses classroom-based, on-site, and on-the-job training for Hospitality, Manufacturing, Health Care & Social Assistance, Warehouse, and other vocational programs, while also providing job development, placement, coaching, and retention services to help individuals obtain and maintain competitive employment. The role requires a flexible schedule to accommodate training sessions and individual employment goals, and may include on-call support when issues arise at work or training sites. The employee maintains a positive, professional relationship with business and industry partners, modeling professionalism through actions, attendance, dress, and demeanor, and works independently to make sound, timely decisions in the best interest of each individual's career goals.

Duties

• Design, develop, and teach vocational and soft-skills courses that prepare students for career opportunities.
• Assess each individual's strengths, barriers to employment, functional limitations, and needs to develop and implement an employment or training plan.
• Monitor and document student/client progress, including skills checklists, performance records, and attendance.
• Train, coach, encourage, and motivate students and clients of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
• Provide job development and placement services, including resume writing, job applications, and interview/soft-skills preparation.
• Establish and maintain relationships with employers, industry partners, and public agencies to source job openings, training sites, and employment opportunities.
• Provide on-the-job coaching and support, teaching techniques, strategies, and workplace accommodations as needed.
• Perform job coaching and retention services for training program graduates and competitive employment clients.
• Establish and accompany individuals on job shadows, work trials, informational interviews, and other career exploration activities.
• Maintain a caseload of individuals receiving Supported Employment Follow Along Services.
• Create and maintain a safe, positive learning and work environment; enforce safety standards at classroom and worksite locations.
• Develop and update curriculum, syllabi, lesson materials, and training aids; assist in maintaining classroom/training equipment.
• Participate in intake meetings with prospective students, clients, and family members; determine employment partner hiring requirements and support individuals in meeting them, including funding for training.
• Act as a liaison between students/clients and leadership at work and training sites.
• Evaluate program and class effectiveness, the local job market, and opportunities for program growth.
• Document all required paperwork and meet deadlines in compliance with BCI Skills Center, Vocational Rehabilitation, CARF, HIPAA, and employer standards.
• Maintain consistent communication with supervisors regarding individual progress, concerns, and changes.
• Attend staff/agency meetings, in-service training, and professional development as required.
• Follow all policies and procedures established by BCI Skills Center and partner work/training sites.
• Perform other related duties as directed.

• Three or more years of experience in employment services, vocational training/instruction, or a related field.
• Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities strongly preferred.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, and kneel; ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to reach, turn, and twist above and below the waist.
• Ability to occasionally use hands to finger, handle, or feel; ability to occasionally push or pull up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 25 pounds (assistance available as needed).
• Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, and color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Work environment characteristics vary depending on classroom and partner worksite locations. The employee may regularly encounter moving mechanical parts and, occasionally, fumes or airborne particles; noise levels are usually moderate. Full Time- $25.00 an hour
