Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking a Vocational Instructor to provide instructional services in vocational and/or occupational subjects within an institutional setting. The role involves teaching trades such as business, computers/technology, carpentry, plumbing and related trades to inmates/students to help them acquire vocational skills.

The instructor will prepare course objectives, plan programs of study, and use materials and audiovisual aids.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required.
• Must be eligible for or be certified by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) or by a comparable entity in the subject areas of instruction.
• Three years of full-time, wage-earning experience in the subject vocational trade or in career readiness skills to include technical trade experience; or three years of experience as a certified instructor teaching in the specific trade or subject area is required.
• Continued employment in this position will be contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining required agency credentials.
• Must have the ability to give clear instructions in the trade and/or vocational area.
• Experience in Microsoft Office applications is required.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
