Job summary

Unitek Learning is seeking a Part Time Nursing Instructor for our LVN program in Bakersfield, CA. Evening and weekend availability is required. No prior teaching experience is required, but you must have 3 years of bedside experience with a BSN or 6 years with an LVN degree.

You will teach both lectures and clinical rotations, review syllabi, and stay current with safety regulations and nursing practices. Strong mentoring and communication skills are essential, and immunizations/BLS must be up

Job Description

We are looking for a Part Time Nursing Instructor for our LVN program.

This is a Part Time position, Evenings and Weekends are required.

No prior teaching experience is required!

Must have a minimum of 3 years of recent bedside experience with a BSN, or a minimum of 6 years of recent bedside experience with an LVN degree.

• Make continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing different and innovative methodologies / techniques in teaching
• Demonstrate or be willing to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning
• Assist with reviewing and revising of syllabus for specific course within the program and instructional guidelines
• Submit required program reports and forms to Director of the program in a timely manner
• Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations
• Maintain student records of attendance, grades, and skills check‑off forms and assist with program data collection that meet set due dates and deadlines
• Assist with updating and maintaining student files as relates to clinical requirements, immunizations and educational requirements
• Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to program needs
• Teach both lecture content and clinical rotations (clinical rotations can be days, and/or evenings, on weekdays and/or weekends)
• Participate in professional development; maintain CE hours to ensure renewed licensure, take responsibility for staying current with college updates
• Actively participate in committees as assigned, based on availability, taking into consideration teaching responsibilities as priority

Pay Range: $45-$60/hr DOE

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse with current licensure in the state in which you are applying to teach. Minimum of 3 years of recent bedside experience with a BSN, or a minimum of 6 years of recent bedside experience with an LVN degree.
• Able to meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Vocational Nursing
• Experience which demonstrates: Current knowledge of nursing practice; ability to mentor students in classroom, lab and clinical settings; ability to work independently without close supervision; broad knowledge of nursing sciences; successful handling of day-to-day operations in the nursing lab; proficient, strong communication skills verbal and written; current knowledge/experience in clinical setting
• Current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification
