Stellent IT LLC is seeking a VMWare Engineer for a remote, long-term contract. Core hours are 3pm EST to 11pm EST with some flexibility.
The engineer will serve as escalation point for incidents, administer Windows Server environments and VMware vSphere, and manage VM provisioning and migrations. Responsibilities include monitoring system health, collaborating with infra and application teams, and leading small to medium design projects.

Serve on Manager on Duty rotation, acting as the primary escalation point for incidents and ensuring timely resolution and communication during critical events
Administer, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022) including installation, role configuration, and lifecycle management
Troubleshoot OS-level issues including boot failures, performance degradation, event log analysis, and service failures
Manage local server configurations, storage volumes, file systems, and system services across the environment
Maintain Windows certificate inventory and work with internal PKI or third-party certificate authorities to ensure timely issuance and compliance
Administer VMware vSphere/ESXi environments, including VM provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management
Execute VM snapshots, cloning, migrations (vMotion), and template management
Manage VMware vCenter Server and associated components (vSAN, NSX, vRealize, or similar)
Monitor system health, performance, and capacity, taking proactive steps to identify and resolve issues before they impact operations
Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to ensure server environments meet workload requirements
Analyze and understand clients' needs and expectations, as well as alternative architectures and trends
Takes responsibility to lead small to medium scale design projects, interfacing with project managers
Remain current on vendor best practices as it relates to the interlinking of technologies (Windows, VMware)
Provide expertise on system performance tuning, capacity planning, and maintenance patching and new version installation
Plan and implement small to medium scale changes on production systems
Analyze and assess the impact and risk of small to medium risk changes on production systems
Demonstrate commitment to Service Excellence
3-5 years' experience working as a Windows Systems Administrator
3-5 years' experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter) in a production environment
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and task management
Ability to troubleshoot complex system and infrastructure issues independently
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
US Citizen with the ability to pass stringent background checks
1-3 years working in Azure Cloud
Azure AZ-104 certification
Experience working with High Availability environments
Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical area
Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
Good organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
