Job summary

Neurocrine Biosciences in San Diego, CA is seeking a dedicated animal care technician to perform daily care of research animals, maintain cage wash areas, and support in vivo activities under strict guidelines.

You will handle inventory, assist with animal health checks, ensure sanitation, and follow ARU guidelines; this role requires physical work and occasional weekend/holiday hours, with a focus on safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with AALAS certification and 2+ years in vivarium/science settings.
• Experience with cage wash equipment and autoclaves is preferred.
• Ability to track inventory and receive goods in a fast-paced facility.
• Ability to walk, lift and move equipment in a controlled environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for research animals and support cage wash areas.
• Receive, unpack, stock supplies and maintain inventory of cages and autoclaves.
• Perform morning facility checks and coordinate carcass disposal per guidelines.
• Assist with in vivo activities, animal health checks and humane euthanasia when needed.
• Maintain records according to facility standards and ensure safety procedures.
