Solomon Page is seeking a contract-to-hire Visual UI Designer to join the Brand and Digital Design team in Long Island City, working on interactive microapps for smart home and energy stories. This on-site role requires collaborating with content strategists, marketers, and product experts to craft engaging experiences using Figma and Tiled.

You will translate briefs into interactive narratives, define user journeys, and create wireframes, storyboards, and high-fidelity visuals.

Our client, a leading smart home and energy technology company, is seeking a contract to hire Visual UI Designer specializing in Interactive Experiences to join their Brand and Digital Design team. In this role, you will design and build microapps that transform complex smart home and energy stories into clear, engaging, interactive experiences — combining the visual polish of branded storytelling with the navigation and behavior of a digital product.

• This is a contract to hire role (full-time hours), on-site opportunity 3 days a week in Long Island City. Pay rate range is from $60-70/hour.

Responsibilities

• Translate creative briefs, customer needs, product information, and business objectives into compelling interactive narratives
• Define the content structure, user journey, navigation model, and interaction design for each microapp
• Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and high-fidelity visual designs in Figma
• Build and publish finished experiences in Tiled, leveraging pages, states, overlays, hotspots, scrolling content, carousels, video, animation, embedded content, and personalized fields
• Design adaptive experiences that function seamlessly across desktop, tablet, mobile, and multiple orientations
• Apply the distinct visual identities of multiple consumer brands while maintaining a consistently high level of craft
• Create and refine supporting visual assets including icons, illustrations, diagrams, product imagery, and data visualizations
• Collaborate with content strategists, copywriters, marketers, product experts, researchers, and sales teams to make complex information more accessible
• Develop reusable templates, components, navigation patterns, and production standards that improve quality and efficiency across future projects
• Prototype early, gather feedback, and test navigation and comprehension before publishing
• Analyze engagement and pathway data to understand how audiences move through experiences and where improvements can be made
• Iterate on published experiences based on customer feedback, behavioral data, product updates, and business outcomes
• Design with accessibility in mind, including readable typography, appropriate contrast, logical focus order, and keyboard-friendly interactions
• Conduct thorough quality assurance across devices, orientations, interactions, personalization states, and published experiences
• Maintain organized source files and assets to support long-term updates and reuse
• Leverage AI-assisted creative workflows responsibly to explore concepts, refine assets, and accelerate production while preserving accuracy and brand integrity

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in visual design, UI design, interaction design, or digital experience design
• Portfolio demonstrating exceptional typography, layout, visual hierarchy, composition, brand application, and digital craft
• Demonstrated experience translating complex information into clear, visually compelling stories
• Strong proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, Auto Layout, prototyping, and organized production file management
• Hands‑on experience building interactive experiences in Tiled or a comparable no‑code platform
• Experience defining user flows, navigation systems, interaction states, and non‑linear content journeys
• Understanding of how interaction, motion, video, and progressive disclosure enhance comprehension
• Experience designing across multiple screen sizes, devices, and orientations
• Working knowledge of accessibility principles for digital content and interactive experiences
• Ability to present work clearly, explain design decisions, incorporate feedback, and bring projects from ambiguity to a polished final product
• Comfort collaborating across brand, marketing, product, research, sales, and operations stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality
• Experience using generative AI tools as part of an ethical and brand‑safe creative workflow
