Job description

Are you a strategic visual merchandiser with a passion for home furnishings, strong design instincts, and the ability to bring spaces to life with purpose? Do you thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where creative autonomy, problem-solving, and hands-on work converge?

Room & Board is hiring a Visual Merchandising Associate to join our Boston Retail Team. As a Visual Merchandising Associate, you'll create thoughtful, compelling showroom presentations that reflect our design philosophy, elevate the customer experience, and connect with the Boston market. You'll lead all phases of visual work—from concept and planning to execution—using strong project management skills to balance daily tasks, assortment introductions, routine assets, and long-term initiatives.

Blending creative freedom with strategic decision-making, you'll partner closely with the store leader and collaborate with the broader team to educate, inspire, and elevate design confidence, ensuring the showroom aligns with business goals and highlights our beautifully crafted product assortments.

A typical day combines creativity, technology, and hands‑on work as you design and execute room settings using your understanding of color, texture, and materials. You'll leverage digital tools and floor planning software to plan layouts, track inventory, and manage timelines while refreshing accessory displays to maintain visual interest and support sales. Collaboration is key—you’ll share updates, gather input, and guide the team on visual standards. The work is dynamic and physical, requiring the ability to shift priorities seamlessly while keeping the showroom looking its best.

Location:

375 Newbury Street

  • You're comfortable with digital tools and software to plan layouts, track inventory, and communicate effectively—and you learn new technology quickly.
  • You thrive working both independently and collaboratively, contributing positively to team initiatives.
  • Your strong communication skills enable you to listen actively, share insights clearly, and educate others on showroom standards and inventory flow.
  • You bring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage time and tasks efficiently.
  • You understand how visual presentation influences the customer experience and can merchandise accessory displays to inspire and support business outcomes.
