Job description

The College Connection and Resource Specialist VISTA will help Salvation Army be the best possible partner for students needing additional food and housing assistance as they attend college. You will become a community resource expert on student needs in the local community, emphasizing how services through Salvation Army and partners can benefit students who may be struggling with expenses. The role is suitable for those interested in community outreach, resource management, and improving access to continuing education.

Member Duties
  • Assess college and student needs and available community resources, and create a long‑term strategic plan for how community resources can benefit college campuses.
  • Assess The Salvation Army’s resources and capacity to respond to gaps in service where students experience unmet needs not addressed by other organizations.
  • Integrate continuing‑education options into the Pathway of Hope and related programs, integrating after‑school programs and youth activities into the first steps toward pursuing college, building capacity to demonstrate the value of education and to improve accessibility for ongoing learning.
