Job summary

Koniag Government Services is seeking a Visitor Welcome Specialist with a TS/SCI clearance to support DARPA programs in Arlington, VA. The role involves serving as the first point of contact for visitors, verifying identities, processing VALs, and issuing security badges in a DoD environment.

Candidates must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, be able to work varying shifts, and meet DoD security requirements. The position is based on-site at DARPA facilities in Arlington, VA.

Qualifications

  • Must have TS/SCI clearance and ability to maintain it.
  • Experience greeting and processing visitors, with emphasis on foreign nationals.
  • Familiarity with DARPA/DoD security requirements and escort procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the entry point for all DARPA visitors.
  • Determine identity, citizenship, and determine visit eligibility.
  • Process and issue Visit Authorization Letters (VALs) and document in systems.
  • Prepare and issue temporary badges for government employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Maintain visitor records and inventory of badges.
  • Escort visitors within the facility as needed.
  • Ensure safety and security per DARPA/DoD requirements.

Job description

Koniag Professional Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Visitor Welcome Specialist with a TS/SCI security clearance to support KPS and our government customer in Arlington, VA.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Serve as the initial entry point for all DARPA visitors.
  • Determine visitor’s identity and citizenship and make appropriate determinations to allow or deny the visit.
  • Receive and send Visit Authorization Letters (VALs) and document related information in various computer systems.
  • Prepare and issue temporary Government employee, contractor and visitor security badges to DARPA employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Enter relevant data and maintain appropriate records.
  • Inventory and account for all badges.
  • Use various computer systems to verify identity, clearances, and visit authorization and to document the visitor’s identity, to include taking a photograph of the visitor.
  • Occasionally responsible for escorting visiting personnel to their destinations within the facility.
  • Knowledgeable of DARPA and DoD security requirements and fully qualified in actions needed to ensure the safety and security of all individuals and to detect or prevent compromise of information or material.
Required Skills and Experience for this position:

Must have the ability to:

  • Provide clear, concise, and accurate written and verbal communication.
  • Administer safety screenings of employees and visitors
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds from place to place
  • Walk up and down stairs
  • Work in inclement weather and outdoor environment
  • Stand in one place for extended periods
  • Detect and report security and safety violations that are learned through experience and training
  • Work any shift (day, evening, or early morning) on all days of the week and holidays
  • Successfully complete company provided training, as demonstrated through written and practical examination, and knowledgeable of DARPA and DoD security requirements and fully qualified in actions needed to ensure the safety and security of all individuals and to detect or prevent compromise of information or material.
  • Greets and processes visitors, provides escort for visitors, with special emphasis on foreign nationals, personnel without clearances, and maintenance personnel, and accurately and completely documents each visit and visitor.
  • Maintain a database that records the details of this visitor and escort work effort
  • Processes and issues a variety of employee and visitor identification badges; and receives and sends Visit Authorization Letters (VALs) and records information contained in the VALs into the DARPA database.
  • One (1) year performing similar duties in a DoD environment.
  • Secret with ability to obtain a Top Secret, with eligibility for SAP and SCI access.
  • Top Secret clearance process must begin within one (1) month of working onsite.
  • Successful completion of the requirements for Preventing Disease Transmission (i.e., blood‑borne pathogens); successful completion of all training required by the contract.
  • Qualified and certified (licensed) as an Unarmed Security Officer in accordance with the laws and regulations of the State of Virginia
  • Certified in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) First Responder – Awareness Level, and certified to use and operate X‑ray and Magnetometer devices.
  • In good general health without physical impairments which would interfere with the performance of duties, including prolonged walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, moving rapidly to respond to various situations.
Required Skills and Experience for work at DARPA on this contract
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate SID and DARPA needs;
  • Be able to travel and perform work at other geographical locations;
  • Have the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work activities
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language and have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Have the ability to accurately and completely prepare and maintain files, records, and reports and to convey factual information
  • Have the ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently
  • Have the ability to remain calm in emergency situations
  • Have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions with limited supervision
  • Have skill in reading, writing, basic math, document composition, and analytical problem solving
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of employment on the contract.
  • Fluent in the written and spoken English language and shall have strong written and oral communication skills.
