JOB TITLE: Visiting Students Resident Director (1 position)

DEPARTMENT & SCHOOL: Student Affairs, School of Professional Studies

TITLE THIS POSITION REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Student Affairs, High School & Non-Degree Programs

TIME COMMITMENT: Approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday (This position includes significant evening, weekend, and on-call hours)

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: May 11, 2026-August 15, 2026

MODALITY: In Person (Live in requirement- May 19, 2026-August 15, 2026, housing provided)

COMPENSATION: $39.50/ hour

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Affairs, High School & Non Degree Programs, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks to support the Visiting and Pre-College Programs at the School of Professional Studies. The Resident Director will be responsible for the management of the residential experience for the Visiting Students Program and the American Language Program. The Resident Director will provide administrative oversight of all programming and community building taking place in the residence halls, as well as, ensuring student safety and supervision. Additionally, this role will be tasked with upholding university policies and protocols related to student conduct, protection of minors, and health & wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises and mentors 3 Visiting RAs who live and work in designated buildings and indirectly supervises summer intern staff.
  • Manages 1-2 residence hall(s) of roughly 130 students total
  • Manages the on-call duty rotation and serves as a member of the rotation in responding to emergency/crisis situations.
  • Maintain an active cell phone and remain on-call between 2-3 nights per week for the duration of the summer programs – with the exception of emergency situations which may require additional on-call hours.
  • Maintains weekly office hours to provide accessibility and support for students, offering guidance on residential concerns and academic resources.
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Director of Student Affairs, and Associate Director of Student Affairs assists in the administering of the student conduct process.
  • Oversees building preparation for move-in and move-out to ensure a seamless transition from session to session.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with Housing to ensure program needs are met and issues are addressed tactfully and effectively.
  • Participates and presents in all facets of staff training.
  • Conducts weekly one on one’s with the RAs to identify issues and trends and collaboratively design solutions.
  • Manage daily administrative processes and maintenance/custodial priorities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of full-time experience working in residential life in a college or university setting or with a youth program.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience or higher in a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field.
  • Experience managing health and safety initiatives in a university setting.
  • Experience supervising professional staff.

  • Ability to handle confidential information in a mature, professional manner
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must undergo a mandatory background check – employment contingent upon results.
  • Must not hold consecutive employment elsewhere while in this role.
  • Must live on-campus in program provided housing for the duration of employment.
