Job summary

The University of Florida's School of Art + Art History invites applications for a three-semester Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication Design. This position will teach undergraduate courses in the BFA and minor in Graphic Design, and lead the UF Quest course on how design works as a tool for shaping, understanding, and communicating who we are.

As lead instructor, you will manage the course, organize asynchronous content, supervise graduate assistants, and design lesson plans for

Qualifications

Terminal degree (e.g., MFA, MDes, PhD) in Communication Design or closely related field.
Experience as instructor of record in higher education beyond graduate student assistantship.
Knowledge of contemporary design issues, conceptual approaches to design, design thinking, and design research.
Skill in designing and facilitating academic work that fosters curiosity, respect, open discourse, and inclusion in complex environments.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate courses in the BFA and minor in Graphic Design.
Lead UF Quest course on how design works as a tool for shaping, understanding, and communicating identity in everyday life.
Manage the Quest course, organize asynchronous content, supervise graduate assistants, and design lesson plans for in-person sessions.
