Job summary

Smith College invites applications for the Iva Dee Hiatt Visiting Artist in Piano and Lecturer in Music. This two-year appointment begins January 1, 2027. A Master’s Degree in Music is required, with a Doctor of Musical Arts preferred.

The successful candidate will teach weekly lessons, give a solo recital annually, and participate in collaborative recitals with faculty. The position includes an active performance schedule, piano maintenance coordination, and piano recital organization, plus

• Master’s Degree in Music or equivalent required.
• Record of distinguished performance.
• Proven teaching record with a wide range of abilities.

Responsibilities

• Weekly lessons for approximately ten to twelve students.
• One annual solo recital at Smith College.
• Participation in at least one collaborative recital with faculty.
• Maintain an active performance schedule.
• Assist in coordinating piano maintenance and organizing piano student recitals.
• Contribute to department administration through committee service.
