Job summary

University of Colorado Colorado Springs is seeking a Visiting Instructor in the First Year Rhetoric and Writing Program to teach 12 credit hours per semester (ENGL 1300, 1305, 1308, 1310, and 1410) with a focus on rhetoric and writing process.

The appointment is temporary and includes duties such as maintaining office hours, providing timely feedback, engaging in department service, and supporting student success in a Colorado Springs on-site setting.

Qualifications

• Must have a Master’s Degree in English or a closely related field with minimum 6 graduate credits in rhetorical theory, history, and/or criticism, composition, writing theory, and/or writing pedagogy.
• Experience as the instructor of record in one or more first‑year college writing courses.
• Evidence of successful teaching of first‑year writing with a rhetorical focus.
• Experience or background in classical and contemporary rhetorical theory is preferred.
• Ability to integrate educational technologies effectively into the instructional process.

Responsibilities

• Teach FYRW courses (ENGL 1300, 1305, 1308, 1310, and/or 1410) and maintain office hours.
• Provide timely feedback and create a learning environment fostering student success.
• Contribute to department meetings and perform service to program/university.
