Job summary

Evanston/Skokie School District 65 in Evanston, IL is seeking a visionary Superintendent to shape academic excellence and equitable outcomes for about 6,000 students across 17 schools.

The new leader will oversee a multi-year financial plan, partner with the board, families, and community, and close opportunity gaps for Black, Latino and multilingual students. This is a high‑impact role in a collaborative district with strong university partnerships and a commitment to transparent leadership.

Qualifications

• At least 15 years of senior leadership experience in progressive education settings.
• Proven ability to manage sustainable finances and capital planning.
• Experience collaborating with a school board, unions, and diverse community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Set high academic expectations and close achievement gaps for Black, Latino, and multilingual students.
• Develop an accountability culture among students, families, and staff.
• Lead instructional improvement and culturally responsive teaching district-wide.
• Align resources with district priorities through transparent budgeting.
• Engage partners across government, higher education, and community groups.
• Provide clear, data-driven progress and build leadership capacity.
